Leslie what gauge of metal did you use for the India dies? You mentioned that when you do it by hand with a hammer you need to use 30 gauge that in the press you can do a thicker guage. Which guage did you use in the press? Thanks!

Hey Leslie! Awesome video. Thank you for posting it. I just bought some male/female stamps that are made of steel rod instead of plates like the Tucker tools. Do you have any ideas on how I could use them in the hydraulic press?
@LeslieKailVillarreal3 жыл бұрын
Cristina Leonard Go to my website Lesliekailvillarreal.com and click the contact button you can email me photos of what you bought
@LeslieKailVillarreal Жыл бұрын
You can try using the Tucker dies in the hydraulic press but some urethane is your mail pusher and the female is the one that has the impression so you don’t use the mail pusher if you’re using the hydraulic press

thanks for shearing this video .i have a question is it possible use Nickel .instead of lead?thanks
@LeslieKailVillarreal5 жыл бұрын
NO!!!! the lead works well because its soft and pushed the metal into the silver. Nickel is way too hard. you can use urethane and rubber or even leather instead of lead but lead works best

Hi Leslie! Thank you for your tutorial. I have some nice historic dies which I‘d like to use. The press you use is not available in Germany. So what pressure is necessary ? Would 15t do? Please help me to find the right press for me! Thank you!
@LeslieKailVillarreal4 жыл бұрын
Sonja Delebinski the best press u can get is a Bonny doon press Rio grande can Sell u one and ship to u. I don’t know about a 15 ton press. I suppose if u used really thin metal it may give u a impression but 20 ton is the standard needed.
@sonjadelebinski14424 жыл бұрын
Ok, thank you so much for advice! I am going to search for a suitable press here! If I can‘t find one I will come back to your offer. Thanks a lot once again!

Is there anything that you cannot do on your press? Simply, is 20 ton almost always enough?
@LeslieKailVillarreal8 жыл бұрын
+Vatsek 20 to press will handle jewelry making needs. if you want to use your press to make tools you may need something larger

any benefit to using lead ball not sheet so it presses in b4 filling out
@LeslieKailVillarreal Жыл бұрын
Hi there, I recommend thin red hard urethane for that, depending on the depth of your die you may still need a fuller piece. Of urethane to fill it out .

Question for you, What kind of oil do you use in your press work ?. Could you use something as simple as W D 40 ?. Also a li l piese of constructive criticism, always remember to include the obvious, ESPECIALLY when it comes to safety tips EG to jeep your fingers OUT of the press while it's operating, I always go be the axiom Never think "OH NOBODY WILL DO THAT" BECAUSE THE MINUTE YOU THINK THAT SOMEBODY WILL.
