Using GeoGebra to Visualize Solids of Revolution for Calculus

In this video we use GeoGebra to create the surface of revolution which shows you the outer edge of a solid of revolution that you might be finding the volume of in AP Calculus. I use the beta version of GeoGebra, but I don't think it makes a difference on this problem.

I'm teaching a Calc 2-ish course in a few weeks and this is our second topic. Been wanting to use visuals like this for a while and could never find good software. This is exactly what I needed, thanks.

The first three expressions were for (x,y,z). But I didn't understand why you wrote v in the place of the x-axis, f(v) cos(u) in the place of the y-axis, and finally f(v) sin(u) in the place of the z-axis. Can you please explain. I am having in problem with disc and washer method maths and I really would love to visualize what is happening when I change the upper bound and lower bound and estimate the volume.

HI thank you for the video and nice explanation. I hope you could make a tutorial on how to make a conoid 3d shape (toothpaste tube). It would really help me a lot.

how do you rotate it around other lines

If you want to rotate around, for example y=-2 instead of the x-axis y=0, then the radius would be increased by 2, and the center of rotation would move down to y=-2. In the Surface function, change second term from f(v)cos(u) to (f(v)+2)cos(u)-2.

hi! when I click t at the beginning, it doesn't create a slider, it creates à fonction, the option ''create slider'' doesn't appear, how can I create a slider?

hmm...they might have changed something since I made this. Sometimes a way around that is to type t=2 (or any number) and it might force geogebra to create a slider. Another option is to just use a different letter, since I think geogebra might now just anticipate t as an independent variable. Hope this helps!
