Hey man, AP scores came out today and I got a 4! I self-studied too! Your videos and Reddit post about self-studying AP calculus helped a ton, without it I probably wouldn’t have passed so thank you ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you. I knew these were on my nspire, just had not used them. This is one of the reasons I got this calculator. Thing is, this is unwieldy compared to my old TI-85 and TI-86. I'm thinking about defining conversion constants, then enter 36in2ft or something similar to shorten the process. It would be nice to have a screen like the 85 or 86 and be able to complete the conversion in fewer keystrokes. Great instructional video. Great work. Thanks again. ☺

Hi! now it's possible to solve the result like a differential equation and then get the function x^2-y^2=25 ?

I used the sentence from vieta to factorise. In this case: p*q=ac, p+q=b, p*q=-18, p+q=-3, 3*(-6)=-18, -6+3=-3 Then comes: 2x^2-6x+3x-9=2x*(x-3)+3*(x-3)=(x-3)*(2x+3)

idk if i will get an answer to this, but at 8:46 why did we use fxx and not fyy or fyx or fxy to find the sign? and is it always the case we have to use fxx? and is everytime fxx is bigger than 0 then its a local min?
@yajairadelacruz2997
@yajairadelacruz2997 28 күн бұрын
Hi! I was taught to use either xx or yy to find a min or max value because they should give you the same sign.
@turksvids
@turksvids 27 күн бұрын
I agree! Once you know D > 0 you know there's a max or min, just a question of which, so looking at concavity in the x- or y-direction will tell you for sure. fxx is concavity in x direction; fyy is concavity in the y direction.

@mcdevious2229

Turks, Just follow his example and select "Force" instead of "Length." TI's conversions are technically exact (as they should be). When you are at the natural grocer and they are selling things by the gram, yet they weigh them on a scale, it introduces a confusion factor (technically, they should be selling things by the Newton 🙂 ).

in part c if i remove the 1/2 from the right side of the equation and bring it outside does it still work ? 1/2 integral cos t/2 = 1/2 (sin t/2 + c)
@turksvids
@turksvids Ай бұрын
are you asking if 1/2 sin(t/2) + C is the same as 1/2 (sin(t/2) +C)? if so, then yes, those are equivalent.

For part b, is it okay if we put that the integral represented the length of the curve of f(x) from x = 0 to x = pi? I dont know if we specifically had to mention arc length but I just mentioned the length of the curve
@turksvids

I think that is fine. (I don’t think there’s another type of length that would make that answer ambiguous.)

Here's a question: what if you just wrote log without the base 10? Would they penalize you?
@turksvids
@turksvids Ай бұрын
That's a good question and I kind of lean toward yes because they make a statement about how the answer show base 10. What I thought was a little weird was that the base 10 part was totally irrelevant to problem. I'm very interested to see what the scoring guidelines look like for each of these FRQs.

For part c, I had everything you had but I was being stupid and thought sin(0) = 1. So I put 3/e as c and 3/e in the final equation. Do I still get any points for part c?

I’m a little surprised they asked you to write but don’t solve in part a, which is a really easy integral to evaluate, but they wanted you to setup and evaluate in part b.
@turksvids

I agree that. Part a was a little hard to believe. Could it even be worth more than 1 point? Maybe 1 for bounds, 1 for integrand? They gave the bounds though…

For part (c) there is a theorem that states the radius of convergence for f and f' are the same, but their interval of convergence could be different. Since the radius of convergence for f is 6 (given) then for f' it is also 6. I wonder if stating that would be sufficient for part (c) instead of using the ratio test.
@turksvids
@turksvids Ай бұрын
yeah, that's definitely the "other thing" i couldn't think of while using the ratio test the second time! would have saved quite a bit of time to use that fact!
