No, you have a valid question, the playing cards are just another piece of ephemera you can use, something a bit different, also think about how many cards you get in a pack and especially from the dollar store. You can't beat that, already to go, you don't have to measure or cut. But, you do have to sand the finish off. That too is part of the process. If you sew, you can skip the sanding but you are taking a chance. vintage cards work too with out the sanding. the paper I used is decoupage paper and you can see through it.
