I've tried a lot of different methods and products for highlighting panels on aircraft models. One of my favorite products for this is Mig Ammo Panel Line Washes. They are convenient, fool proof and easy to clean up.

Nothing is more satisfying than laying down a good wash and seeing all the details pop out. Great work and great presentation!

Since Tamiya Accent is so hard to find right now, I might try this. Thx for the review!

Great video. I enjoy these products too. I actually prefer these to the Tamiya equivalents. I'm working on some armor right now but all of your recent videos are making me eye the aircraft I have in my closet! Maybe I'll see if I can whip up a Tamiya Zero one day soon!

As a new modeler who just bought panel line wash for the first time, I’m REALLY glad I watched this. I need to go buy some gloss coat before I touch it. Awesome content.

I've been using Flory, and sometimes Tamiya but I'm going to try the Mig Ammo. The Flory is quite nice and also easy clean up and you can remove it if you are not happy with the dried result.

Great info, thanks! This makes me curious..... what about the next steps? As the dried wash is rather fragile and is "dusting off" when touched by cotton bud or finger touching (is has little "grip/bite" on the smooth gloss coat)... How do you seal this weathering against following stages of weathering/blending? As the product is an Enamel product, sealing it in with an enamel clear coat will very likely dissolve/damage the carefully weathered appearance. A lacquer clear coat like MRP-048 or Mr.Color's GX-100 is likely also too "hot" for this fragile weathering. An acrylic clear coat like Aqua Gloss or Gauzy or any other Vallejo or MIG acrylic may do a better job (if not thinned with anything that may dissolve the dried wash!) How do you seal in this weathering?

The dried wash is fairly durable and does not take long to dry in the panel lines. I'd seal it in after a few days

Great video. One note, though: at the end, you refer to it as “AK wash.”

Looks great! I am trying PLW for Warhammer models. However my bottle seems to separate quickly and needs constant mixing. Have you experienced this? Thanks!

Yes - I need to shake the bottle a few times when I apply

Thank you for sharing. What is the difference between the "AMMO Panel Line Wash" and "AMMO Enamel Wash" ?

I have never used Ammo Enamel Wash but I bet it is very similar to the panel line wash.

the fact that do you dont need thinner is incredible! , so if i did this on a semi gloss surface the blobs would be harder to remove, correct?

I want to ask you something. If i use actylic gloss varnish, i should use enamel washes, or are the acrylic washes just fine?
@ModelAirplaneMaker
@ModelAirplaneMaker 5 ай бұрын
If you use an acrylic varnish, oil and enamel washes should work well for you. Oil is a lot more forgiving but takes a long time to dry. enamel tends to be a bit more aggressive but it dries faster. I like the Mig ammo washes because they clean up so nice.

That is a good question. To be safe, I'd give it 24 hours. You might be able to speed that up with a hair dryer

Do you prefer the AMMO Enamel Panel Line Wash instead of an Oil Wash?
@ModelAirplaneMaker
@ModelAirplaneMaker Жыл бұрын
An oil wash should get you the same results. I have had issues with consistency and cleanup when I used oil washes in panel lines. For whatever reason, this product just works every time.
