I did a previous video on conditioning and puffing up piano key bushing felt, but using Profelt didn't totally solve the problem. So I decided to replace bushing felts on some keys. This fun video tells the story of the long difficult journey. Actually, just a time consuming job made easier using the Bushmaster tool.

They’ll come out a lot easier if you just put some water on them and stick the top of a soldering iron in the hole. The steam will loosen them up no problem.

Watching this effort of intense labor and waste of time was not an efficient method to replace bushings. Also a waste of material. The tools used could be upgraded . Another observation is that the existing key tops are in jeopardy of marring and the lip being chipped or damaged. I have been replacing bushings for over 50 years and believe the method I use, taught to me, by Darrel Fandrich works well. I can remove both rails of bushings in under 30 minutes. It will take about 50 minutes per rail to install the new fitted bushings. I am not trying to brag, but time saved is money in your pocket. I have made my own cauls to fit the non-standard pins. To be honest I don't see any issue with the keys. The loose we can see is actually within the tolerance in my opinion...

Could you slightly turn the “bat pins” to take up the slack?

Have you,as a professional restorer,ever come across two round gold set screws in each piano key right up where I would place my hands to play the piano? If so could you tell what these gold set screws are for?

I am a self taught amateur. But no, I have never seen screws like that.

What print 3d you used?

I designed the caul on tinkercad, sliced it in the programs that came with the printer. I have an Artillery Sidewinder, just a cheap normal 3d printer, any other should work as well.
