Adam, this is great. I just bought a NEX-3N for similar reasons. I bought an A6400 earlier in the year and I started using vintage lenses and I wanted a camera that was dirt cheap and had a 16-50mm oss lens. I wish I started with this NEX-3N. Thanks for Sharing!

There is a microphone that works with it. Look up the Sony ECM-SST1. It may not be what you are looking for, but it is a compatible microphone.

did you take the time to learn it? it's really hard for a professional camera to look bad unless you don't learn the camera and work on lighting and whatnot

it depends on what video format you record it in. I had the same issue with the a6000

I recommend the NEX-3F. The price difference compared with the NEX-3 is insignificant but the specs (e.g. 1080p video support) are better. I got one for 110 € and this camera really rocks. I have also a Sony A6000 and a A7S and this little gem is a great addition to my setup and for sure a great start for a on budget vlogger. Since the NEX-3F got released some years after the NEX-3 you have more features for your creative work.

GREAT VIDEO! AND HELPFUL! I HAPPEN TO HAVE ONE I BOUGHT WHEN THEY WERE THE TOP OF THE LINE BACK IN THE DAY! hi could you please tell me whats would be the best setting for Sony NEX-F3 video setting indoor. I tried few and 2 major issues facing. 1- not good lighting and the video is a bit grained/looks pixelated, not sharp? So please help me for putting the right settings. thanks

I'm a beginner looking to take pictures not so much video. With one do u think would be best for photography nex c3 or the Sony dsc hx50v point and shoot I hate that u can't change lenses on it and I like that u can change lenses on the nex c3. On market place they are booth going for $100 bucks. I'm so stuck on witch one to get. can you help me to decide witch is the better one.

Hi, I just shot a video using this camera with a PK optical zoom lens. However, the videos are grainy, unlike yours. I was wondering what was wrong? Was it maybe my settings? What setting did you use for your video? I do am a newbie in video making. :)

I used 720p, my best guess would be that it was too dark when you were filming because this camera needs a lot of light. It's also possible that your ISO was set too high. Let me know if you get it figured out!

@@FoxTailWhipz Thank you for your quick response. ^_^ Actually, even the ones that I filmed outside ended up grainy, but it was indeed also quite gloomy during the filming. Did you have a certain setting for the exposure in the cam? I really like how yours turned out. I wish I could figure out what's wrong with mine. Anyway, I'm trying to experiment more with it. Will let you know if I figure it out (I hope). Thank you for your response again. :)

@@FoxTailWhipz Hi, again. I think I already found out what was wrong. The Auto-HDR setting was on during our first filming session. I turned it off and after that, I didn't the grainy footage anymore. :)

A firmware update allows it to use exposure control during video.

I would recommend the NEX 3N or 5R more for vlogging because of the flip screen so you can see yourself.

The flash is only made for photos because it cant be on continuously like a normal light bulb.
