Loss to India, especially if they studied through merit seat. It's a loss to Indian tax payers money which was used to compensate mbbs education cost in India since India lacks adequate doctors.

This guy in the interview did 3 years of research and 1 year of internship. THAT"S CRAZZYYY!! Rather go into IM and do cardio instead at that time frame. And I know what you'll say. Go for your passion. See passion and interest in specialty is a myth. You may feel that surgery is your passion right now. But go into any other field and go deep into it. You'll know the value of each specialty and eventually develop passion into it. Also, when you look back at the age of 40ish; if you're still a neurosurgery trainee at that age(which you'll be as an IMG, like the guy on the interview), I mean I don't know if you've made it in your life or if that was really worth it, given the grit of the most brutal residency on the planet, just to say one single thing at the end "It was your "passion"".

Sir I have a question I heard that the Indian doctors who pursue residency in usa will have to return to India as the govt stopped issuing NORI certificate from 2015...Will the returned doctors be able to work in us again??? Focus on learning basic sciences in your school first. Foundations are important for med school in future

@@kookie-rd6pe high school grades don't directly affect your future USMLe, plab, etc. But you need the high school grades to get into med school first. In India, if you have money, you probably can pay your way through med school (mbbs) & in that case, they don't care about your high school grades. But in other countries like the U.S., students consistently work hard from high school and need to maintain good GPA throughout their school days, undergrad university years, to get into good med school, along with great MCAT scores.

Real respect for you and your journey Sir. But these interviews are so vague, they donot show any ground reality, I realized this once I started my journey. Also most of them donot tell about the indirect approaches they actually used to enter the system.

i think min 5-7 publications in a good journal would do and then you can always do abstracts and presentations.

The real question is WHAT IF THE YOG IS 7-8 years during the time of match ? If u have the research , a masters course in the field of choosing n say 5-6 publications ! Will you never be able to match if your YOG IS 8-9 years ? From graduation during the time of match ? This is really something that’s frustrating! Please give us a straight forward answer :)

The problem is human life span! It takes 7 years to finish neurosurgery residency. Neurosurgeons have one of the highest malpractice insurances & fear of a lawsuit during every surgery. Most crazy part is that Physicians in America also have one of the highest depression rates. It takes too long to be a doctor in America & too much liability during practice. Worst, you dont get to enjoy your money because you always darn working or on-call. Some states require you to participate in clinical research & that can suck out more of your life. You wont even know when you turned 50. Also, divorce is very high among doctors because you will be missing many birthdays & soccer games. Most importantly, watching a KZfaq video wont land you a residency. Status in America is also very important factor since most residency programs are funded by government. There are many organizations in America who wants to bar IMGs getting into residency & these voices are only growing. Of course, I hope that it never happens, but you need to be ready.
