Yup, also weapons wise. Federation's photon torpedoes were more advanced than romulan plasma ones, but... Romulan phasers or beams were almost as twice as powerful than the galaxy.

@John Keels I totally forgot about the tin man episode and the warbird speed limitation. That’s interesting. Considering it’s powered by a quantum singularity you’d think it would be very fast.

@@RetroBadgerGaming I've always wondered about this as well. They had such a superior power system for their warp drive yet the ship could not keep up with Starfleet vessels that easily paced above Warp 9 for many hours at a time.

@@RetroBadgerGaming in terms of raw power I don't think singularity drives are superior to warp cores on a per-volume or per-mass basis, but it's definitely more versatile given that they just need to keep throwing in any kind of mass to keep it running

@@biohita Correction, it's only twice as powerful only at close range. At longer ranges, a Galaxy has a major advantage over the D'Deridex, only needing to fear its heavy disruptor battery (which can be evaded) since plasma weaponry becomes ineffective at range much more quickly compared to phasers and photon torpedoes. Besides, the D'Deridex shouldn't be fighting fair against anything it doesn't explicitly outclass; it should be using its cloak to ambush prey and take full advantage of its heavy forward battery and plasma weaponry. A competent captain in Bridge Commander can easily 1vs1 a D'Deridex (and you totally can in the regular story, with or without the aid of a nebula); it's really the undertuning of the Galaxy's shields and phasers that hold it back in most mods.

Pretty accurate to canon though. The Warbird was designed to counter and beat the Galaxy class.

@@compmanio36 Given Romulan isolation, I'm not sure what they would've designed it for other than to scare, and it does a pretty good job of that.

@@stephandolby They're very isolationist but that doesn't mean they don't pay attention to their neighbors and enemies, and the Romulans surely put a lot of effort into doing so.

@@compmanio36 Very true. We know that there were defections within the period, so the Empire wasn't completely isolated, and based on what Cmdr. Tebok said in _The Neutral Zone_ , they had indeed been paying attention even if they weren't getting involved. They may have remained that way for a bit longer had the Borg not showed up.

@@compmanio36 I think they were supposed to be roughly equal in power, which this mod reflects imo because retro might have been able to win if he avoided the frontal arc of the D'deridex more

If the galaxy class stays in front of the D'deridex like retro did here. But if the galaxy takes advantage of its superior maneuverability to avoid the front and rear torpedo arcs I think it wins

@@lucarinaldichini324 I don't think it was ever stated in the show that the D'deridex was twice as powerful. It doesn't really match with what we see imo as the D'deridex often seemed wary about confronting the Enterprise one-on-one, and the Enterprise along with 3 small bird of preys were able to get 2 D'deridex to back off. If they were really 2 times as powerful they would have been more confident imo

@@keyboardt8276 That is correct. The D'Deridex is mostly for intimidation and ambush tactics, not straight up fights against things in its own capability. This makes sense in lore, since it was designed to fight waves of Excelsiors, Centaurs, and handily beat Ambasadors 1vs1.

In the shows they usually fired single phaser beams though. And the other mod actually allows you to fire multiple at a time which is kinda inaccurate imo
