A young Ustad Rashid Khan singing in his first commercially released cassette in 1988. Vilambit Khayal: Raine Ka Sapna' and drut khayal: 'Bhavda Yaarda Jobana'. Pt Ananda Gopal Bandopadhyay on tabla. For those who hadn't heard Rashid Khan in concerts before, it was an instant sensation. A star was born.

Very nice! I still remember hearing Rashidji sing Lalit at Sawai Gandharva in 1988. I had gone to get something to eat and was listening to this powerful and mature voice over the speakers and was shocked to see this skinny kid on stage when I got back to my seat.

very nice...but kindly mentioned the accompanist name also...because i heard this recording manytimes..my father Pandit Ananda Gopal Bandopadhyay Accompany in tabla in this recording series. .so pls do the name of every accopanist ...Thank you

u tube me sabhi ustadon ka gaya ek rag bahut hi badhiya combination hai.classical sikhne walon ke liye aur sunane walon ko anandit karta hai.thanks u tube.

Original Rashidji. I miss this self-absorbed, soft voice, without any gimmick and incompetent accompanying students. Like a lost era.

Students are learners. Please dont say incompetent. Khansaheb must have learnt the same way. Everyone does and has to. There is no other way

@@chandrashekharnaik3086 Remember Mrs Krishna Hangal ? The extremely accomplished singer just accompanied her mother Vidushi Gangubai throughout her life, just for humility. And Rashidji himself ? I heard him just getting to sing one small vistar in high scale at the age of 13 yrs from his uncle, the inimitable Ustad Nisar Hussain Khan. I wrote about the compulsion of great singers to give chance to their immature and talentless students with him for crass commercialisation. Ustad Rashid Khan is teaching such people for a long time, have you heard of any of his student barring Omkar Dadarkar, who is a finished product from ITC ? In older days, greats wouldn't have allowed such students to open their mouth on the stage but to play tanpura.

If you are looking for the same bandish, sung by other artists, there must be several more. Bhimsen Joshi has a commercial long-play recording of his early days (1960, I think).
