... That point about media segments not being long enough to get your point across with nuanced issues is important in this day and age of clips and shorts and headlines, clickbait etc... Sometimes you just need to wait a bit, instead of falling into the breaking news, media cycle thing. It's not easy... Kickin' It.👏🏾

I admit to bias: when she cane to my beloved Man City it was like…having the Queen of all Queens in our presence (we felt this, too, when Sam and Rose came to City: We don’t ALWAYS blindly love US players, trust me! But how blessed was I, at City, to see these legends play 🙏👏👏👏❤️). Also. I loved her Autobiography! And to that end I can’t bring myself to listen to/watch this vid, just in case my fangirl bubble gets popped! 😨🥰

growing up in Indiana I can literally say Ive had 2 coaches in my life that ACTUALLY played soccer. One now is 300+ pounds with major health problems and he hasn't played since like the 80/90s for IWU and the other is literally 4 years older than I am. It's sad asf. you don't get picked to go to a club. you have to TRAVEL long distances and pay an insane amount of money for clubs that aren't even gonna progress you to an elite/ semi elite level. there's 6 year olds in England with legit coaches with legit experience. The game here is so fucked and it has to change

Davies it’s not that we disagree that everyone needs to be treated equal. And EVERYONE that I know feels the same. People watching her not kneel just means that she respects the country and the flag. By kneeling to me, is disrespectful to your country and to your flag on a world stage. You do not go out on the world stage and disrespect your country. PERIOD. We change by each person speaking up WHEN it is happening. To me going out and disrespecting your flag, and your country makes us look weaker

Understand Carli's statement. Show support and kneel if you must. All in on that, get the importance of awareness. But you have to be careful, at what point does it become virtue signalling. Always good to put some action behind that outside the pitch, however big or small. Also, maybe sporting individuals, athletes will understand having to be in the moment. When you're focused on the game, your focused on the game. It's hard work, preparing and getting to that mental state. That level.
@machellovelivelife658

The demand for ppl to see (on media) gives way to "performative allyship"; Where someone is doing an action for 10 seconds to avoid being attacked, not deeply thinking about that cause in that duration but will be seen as "sincere" while the person not doing the action because they don't mean it in *that moment* is seen as terrible. Ridiculous. I knew that the kneeling thing would lose weight/steam and be reduced in duration. No athlete is thinking deeply about racial issues or any social/political cause in half a second. Even black players on the men's side stopped doing it. Carli not kneeling was overblown.

*Carli is the ultimate legend in the USWNT. Well, the coach was following Plato's philosophy. According to Pablo, kids must be separated from their families for them to be educated by a specialist in the field. That is the origin of the concept of boarding schools.*

Kneeling thing was interesting. I think Mo's take made sense in the moment but as time went on we see that Carli was right. What did it accomplish? Her not taking a knee at the very least gave her the opportunity to tell everyone that we need to move on from the performative antics. Its really not a powerful protest if they had been doing it for a year up to that point. Frankly what she did was extremely brave and i wish she didnt downplay it to something she "just didnt feel like doing,"because I highly doubt she didn't know what would be said about the optics of that photo.

Carli is 100% right about the taking a knee thing, its just for show at this point. I get what they were trying to accomplish but if people haven't figured out the message by the 100th time they see players kneel...doing it another 100 times wont change their minds.

I want like Carli so much because she was a truly great athlete. But football is a team sport and she consistently separated and isolated herself from the team, even when it was unnecessary. She still has this bitterness that is not healthy. She also seems to believe that the USWNT would be more successful if every player was singlemindedly focused on becoming their best. The team needs to matter too.

@@island97yeah it’s weird to see a narrative like this because nobody gives a damn how good of a teammate you are in ANY male sport as long as the player in question is performing. Kobe…MJ…Brady…many of the GOATs weren’t seen as great teammates in terms of (being nice). Such a silly reason to dislike her in my opinion. It’s your right but personally I separate the player off the field from the player on the field when we’re talking about their game. 2 Olympic Golds, 1 Olympic Bronze, 2 World Cups, 1 World Cup runner up, and 1 World Cup bronze finish…I couldn’t give 2 shits whether her teammates liked her or not. She’s a serial WINNER. All this other BS is high school gossip. You play this game at the level she did, the only thing you should care about is winning. And this is exactly why this current USWNT looked recreational at this past World Cup. Carli’s generation is gone and they were the ones who actually had that dawg in em.

Charlie and Maurice missed again Carli's point. As most of us we agree on equality and fair treatment but kneeling while working just to draw attention to yourself without concrete action literally does nothing and then being told that kneeling would help world oppression is wrong, delusional and virtue signaling. Both can be true, a non-kneeler can be a good representative for equality. I get sick and tired of being manipulated into simple mindedness about complex expansive issues; kneel and you're a good person.
