In division is quite easy. With random team mates is a miracle (today i manage to do it without casualities in the team)

What I love the most about this Op are the completely op rocket planes that nearly one-shot you.

Targets in this mission: torpedo boats frustrating to shoot at, mines, planes, land installations uninteresting to shoot at, 7 DDs. Wow, I can't wait to play ranked again for the next two weeks.

this playerbase man i can do more as a single Helena than 3 ships together and still miss like 6/7 since i need to go all the way back to pick up the leftovers the teammates refused to complete.

5 stars with team support, but it is wows so team support is hit or miss... still an enjoyable ops

It's not complicated but it is annoying. The minefields are annoying (God forbid you try a ship with plane based DCs), the planes are annoying (if you're not in Atlanta), the coastal guns are annoying (because they're stupid accurate and have damage comparable to an 8" gun with like a 1s reload and you can't damage them until they're spotted) and those little torpedo boats are especially annoying (subs at least have splash damage). The objectives are kinda stupid too, as I've said they take basically no damage when they're unspotted and when they are spotted they take a huge amount of damage to destroy despite being exposed coastal guns. That's all without mentioning your teammates. It's not hard or complicated (assuming your team has at least something going on up there) but it's just annoying and not very fun even if you take a ship that's good for it imo

Had two 5-stars tonight with full random teams, it's really hard and felt like sheer luck. Had 2350 base exp while second in team had 1000... BB's should be excluded from this OP, I know it's historical but this op is too poorly balanced for them, only WV '44 and Renown '44 seem to be working somewhat but then again you're much better off with Atlanta or Helena/Eendracht if you don't have her.

The Mine field doesn’t move actually. It spotted in the rough location at your ship spotting. Then if your team also spot the Mine as well and if it is the same mine. The spotting will move to estimate it’s coverage. I know this because I PTS the damn game 50 times and learn how Mines Work in the gamemode. I thought it move by itself too, but it is basically a rough estimation. Recommend to go through Mines. They are completely harmless as long as you don’t go to the mine itself. It is also the best way to clears it. Drive your DD through the mines and clear it with 2 easy Depth Charge strikes. I think you have to destroy 56 Mines inorder to wipe the area clean. Don’t worry, it’s easier than it looks. Ship Based ASW are the best at this and DDs have a lot of them. This is why I keep appreciate any DDs who dadicated to play on this OP and do the mine sweep. I didn’t say Atlanta can do it too, but DDs are much smaller and easier to navigate through mines and clears it. Plus you can create air pollution to hide yourself. So problem with this gamemode. Apart from Installation Bugs and PT stupif zero torps arming distance nothing much in particular. BUT, as a PTS who played all three D Day Op. i have to say that the next D Day OP (Atlantic Defense) are like the buggiest one, of them all and it worse than Invincible Bugs. Now, what was this bug? Oh nothing special, just the game bricked entirely from random occasions. Not sure what’ve cause it because I only encountered once with everyone on that battle. The game froze but the chat does not. It just literally time stop. Then, we can’t quit the game or leave the battle. The only fix is to go to task manager and shut WOWs down. Invincible Bugs atleast makes you still able to play games regularly but this is literally unplayable. I hope WG fix this issue. Next Bug on Atlantic Defense is Unable to deploy Sea Mines after killing Dido. This is also fustrating, because your primary task is to deploy 10 Sea Mines. Dido will interupt you to deploys them and you have to kill it to let you able to use Mines again. If you can’t do this. You’ll fail the mission. So imagine this bug happen and you can’t do anything about it. Next, Omaha Beach OP. Boy this thing also plague with Bugs. Enemy DD spawn next to you and you don’t have reaction time to avoid anything. Z-38 despite being german DD it is basically Kagero with Italian Gimmicks. Can’t collect the survivors.

I actually managed to 5 star this with a secondary build Pepsicola. The range on the guns are also nice for knocking out objectives without having to get too close to hidden coastal batteries. It was a fun time.

Sort of like the difference between 'simple' and 'easy'. This Op is fairly simple, but how the objectives are very spaced out make it pretty tricky for a team of randos who often times don't have classified documents applied right or just lemming train because that's where some of the rest of the team is going. Compartmentalisation is necessary in this op to a level unlike any of the others. IMO, a competent three-man div with two DPM cruisers (preferably with ship-borne DCs) and one long ranged cruiser (the new CL Montcalm is great for this) can 5-star this op pretty reliably.

Renown 44 with secondaries is really good. West Virginia 44 is just too slow imo

Mission is seemingly tooled for for the Atlanta equipped with DFAA and Depth Charge module and Ovechkin using the his Health perk. Don't need IFHE, just the increased HE damage skill.

It does get much easier if everyone brings in the "right" ships. Not only is there a three tier window, but also the effectiveness of ships varies greatly. BBs and CAs are for the most part not that great choices. And unfortunatly, in randoms we can not expect everyone to bring a Tier 7 of an efficient ship type.

Another pro tip is that you can Radar the Airfields at edge of radar range if you know where it is. Easy to find it once you’ve worked it before

I mean, apart from the fact that a torpedo boat eating an entire atlanta HE salvo wouldn't have any hull left to sail on, the gamemode seems pretty okay. Seen a bunch of people complain online, and like...yeah...I get it...but also...theres a reason destroyers are called (torpedoboat-)destroyers while battleships are just battleships. Its notoriously hard to hit small fast moving targets with big guns.

I bring a secondary spec West Virginia 44 and usually finish second on the team behind the good player that brings an Atlanta.

I was in a Utah match today in my West Virginia 44 and TWO minefields moved and sandwiched me. Never seen anything like it.

When I see somebody in Atlanta in this mode, I know we have big chance for good results. I try my best in West Virginia but still half of base co as ally in Atlanta.

I use IFHE on my ATL, and that with the 300% HE damage “document” buff rips apart the Coastal and AA guns emplacements and the airfields in lickity-split time. I suffer to mines and torps while in minefields due to no DFAA or “document” buff for AA, so I guess it’s a trade off. A dive of one ATL with DFAA spec and the other with IFHE spec could probably take down 5 stars, even with the most Russet of Potato other teammates. I watched as Fiji just ricocheted all his shells off the airfield. I’d guess they have an about same pen value for 203 normal (USN) HE. But with IFHE I’m well past that. I can chunk the airfield or guns with 15k-20k full salvos.

think I did 145k damage to an aerodrome with the eendracht, seems like you only damage them when theyre lit

But its very buggy, like the range bug on the coastal guns, you cant crosshair them to hit, the damage to airfields not always given for pens, the dds duking is cool but makes it hard as a solo, cause most of your teammates are all at sea with wtf to do.

What a dumb mission to introduce the very week people are pushing 5 mil damage for the week8 of dockyard. Wg trolling the players with an op that you can't get over 50k dmg in.

If their is one thing I will say about this operation, Light Cruisers and DDs only is probably the Best Strat, Battleships feel pretty useless and Heavy Cruisers are awful at clearing Mines.

As PQ said its only tough with random teammates. In a div its very easy. I only managed 4 stars because I play solo

5 times and only one with full completion thanks to 2 co op div players who knew exactly what they were doing, Basically carried us all.

Closest I’ve come is 4* two costal guns survived (5/7)

Got 4 stars on 2nd attempt in rental la gali in fully random team with 2 bbs. Then next one was 5 stars when I played wv, just camped enemy dd spawn, and destroyed one airfield with secondary guns. Even tho bbs suck here you can do something with enough knowledge and skill.

You would not have gotten those stars unless you had a team that knew what they were doing: Clearing the mines for the landing ships, destroying the airfields and guns on the other side. Doesn't matter what you do unless you have competent players around you, even more so than normal in Wows.

Try it with randoms.

Only thing that annoys me about this mode is how boring it is when bringing a BB. Most of my time is spent just throwing ASW at minefields.

Okay so I got a bone to pick with that title and what your saying about the operation. Its not that complicated when you are in a division, well duh. In a division you have competent teammates in good ships that know how to play, in randoms you got 44 percenters in ships like the WV44 or other useless BBS. go do randoms in this operation on NA and I bet you wont be 5 staring in your first dozen attempts at least. I have done 20 games in this mode with randoms, and I have yet to get more than 3 stars. Now with that being said, it is still one of the better operations .

This mode is complete garbage between the planes that drop ordnance in random places including triple torps from a single plane to the coastal batteries you can't aim at half the time to the just plain jank way that enemy spotting works in the op.

This Operation is purest Wargaming dog shit. I played it during the PTS and it was already boring but atleast it was fair, now if you don't bring the perfect team + people with atleast one brain cell it is impossible to get more than 2 stars... oh and of course you need luck that your landing ships AI isn't suicidal with the minefields, while the enemy AI is cheating 24/7. Saying this operation is not that complicated in a fucking 6 player division is kinda stupid. Of course it is not if you have a premade team. You guys know how intelligent the average WoWs player is, right? ps. you also had extreme luck with the DD spawns!
