Utah is gorgeous. I've likely said this before, but would love to go back. We visited Bryce from GC and headed towards Colorado. The stretch of stuff we saw just from the road was incredible. "Oh no, we're not at the top." - best hiking quote ever

If you ever get a chance, definitely do some hiking at Kodachrome Basin State Park. It's a really neat place. I just learned about a whole bunch of new slot canyons and hiking trails in this area! That giant arch was really awesome looking, too. Very cool Randy thank you so much for posting this!

I drove that road back in May. The view from the top of Yellow Rock is awesome. I even flew a drone from the top for some great footage of the surrounding area. I also camped at Kodachrome Basin.

If you had the time, you should have hiked to the high point of the formation above Grosvenor Arch. There is no trail but pretty easy to figure out. Just go along the base of the formation to the right and you'll come out eventually on the backside. It's actually an easy climb from the there, never dangerous feeling and it's so cool to look down on the arch and the other tourist below wondering how you got there ! And Kodachrome ST. Park is amazing to camp and explore.

Would love to drive this road again someday. Did it in 2007 with my childhood best friend. We really couldn't stop to see much as we started up the road late in the day making our way to Kodachrome. Would love to take more time in the future to explore it! Thanks for the tour!

I think I mentioned to you previously that I tried going south on Cottonwood Canyon Rd from Cannonville. Unfortunately, I had the wrong rental & the dips in the road were too muddy! I really wanted to see the Corkscrew & a slot Canyon but alas, no go. I did make it to Devil's Garden on the trip plus the Burr Trail through Long Canyon & Hell's Backbone Road so it still was a worthy trip! Again, nice video & 📷 photos!

"...a container of cottage cheese so I'm fueled for the day." 🤣 I was a little concerned as you sounded a little slurred and looked exhausted towards the end of the video than your usual self. But then I was like, at least he's hiking with three solid friends and it's not as bad as the food poisoning episode. Peace.

Hi, nice video! Can you tell me if there are any drop offs along the Cottonwood Rd? We want to drive it in May (weather permitting) and see the backcountry before a night at Kodachrome. Some of us don’t love driving near cliffs!
@AmericasParks
@AmericasParks 2 ай бұрын
Thanks! From what I can recall (during dry conditions) the drive was rather simple for an average car (an SUV would be better) and I don't remember any drop-offs along the road.

At 4:08--now that's a hiking stick to write home about!! Even in the sections with less color, it surely doesn't remind us of Illinois, nor NJ, right? If it's the same pronunciation as the director of National Geographic Society from 1920--1954, Grosvenor is pronounced GROVE-ner. Also, there's a 2nd. place named after him in Alaska's Katmai (CAT-my) N.P. I'm always amazed by this part of the country, and have been out there many times, doing what you do, back in the '90s.
