Thanks! Yeah, I've decided to leave music (and voice overs, thus the burned subtitles) off these closer look videos. While I do use some music on the trip videos, I'm not producing music videos, so avoid playing songs the entire video. I also find that annoying. And during trips I ask the crew to not play music or commercial radio while recording to avoid copyright issues. Or, if they do, to provide me some recordings at different speeds and surfaces that I can dub over tracks with music. However, there are times during a trip when we're just kind of grooving along and some music seems perfect. So, there are a few times where I try to replicate that feeling for viewers with a couple minutes of music. I might have done that three or four times in all of my videos. I'd be interested to know what you thought of that, if you remember it. Did I succeed, or were you just annoyed? There's one such stretch in one of the recent COBDR videos. Finally, I do love capturing the radio chatter. Some I do dub out: Discussion of setting up a camera shot, when we're talking about activities or people unrelated to the trip, etc. I am considering ways I might record the chatter on a clean sound track so that I can add better background audio for shots such as from the drone. So, maybe someday you'll see some improvement on those.

Thanks, Carol. Just FYI, if you heard about the two Utah hikers who died during a flash flood event in a slot canyon a couple days ago, they were just off this road. I am uncertain of the condition of the route after the bout of bad weather the area has had. But you used this video for exactly the reason I created it: Allow folks to decide if they should drive it. Beaver, UT brings to mind a couple stories. First, years ago when I was in USAF, I had returned from serving in Vietnam War and was moving to Hill AFB (Ogden). I had a brand new 1973 Plymouth Duster and was towing a trailer with some of our household goods that had been in San Diego. In Beaver, this super helpful young man came out and gave my Duster the full going over--checking oil, cleaning windshield, etc. He then looked under the car and delivered the bad news: "Sir, see the way those rub marks are above your rear axle? That's because your rear axle shocks are shot." I wasn't stupid enough to fall for it, despite his insistence that it was a dangerous situation. A couple weeks later the SLC newspaper had an article about folks being ripped off in Beaver by that gas station. Second, was after a failed first attempt a year or two earlier, I was able to drive over the mountains from Beaver when headed back to OKC. It was a great drive through some beautiful meadows and down a windy dirt road on the east side. I think it was the return from the Solar Eclipse Expedition, and you can find video of that crossing in that series.

@@DxDOverland Yes I watched that one also. Most in Beaver were/are hard working people but any community can have a bad one but in that town when dad was there the bad ones did not last. For me the trips there to visit were priceless now!

I hope you don't think I meant to disparage the townfolk. It was just one incident with one person (or maybe one business, at most).

@@DxDOverland Not at all as I have had similar experiences. I was only saying people like that do not last long in the small towns. In no way did I take it as anything against the town or it's people, I have watched/listened to too many of your videos to feel that way.

Interesting. We would see a lot of obvious hikers along the next section of road (not in this video), House Rock Road.

But think of all the cool sights you might discover! BTW, at the spur for Grosvenor Arch, which is along this route, there's a big sign saying that the section going past the arch parking lot DOES NOT go to the highway. Leave a crumb trail and that could be a cool place to explore.
