Plantar fasciitis is a very stubborn chronic condition resulting in heel pain with walking, running, and sometimes even at rest. In this video we demonstrate Shockwave treatment for plantar fasciitis which has been very effective!
Dionne has had plantar fasciitis for over 3 years now, and we have tried everything from ASTYM to Dry Needling to Strengthening and stretching...but she has still been plagued by pain in the heel.
This has been the most painful in the morning when she gets out of bed in the morning and after she has been resting for a while. It comes and goes, but has never gone totally away.
So, after 2 Shockwave treatments, she is 90% better and is having no limping or pain in the morning! Pretty awesome.
This is her 3rd treatment and we will probably do a total of 5 to 6 treatments on her foot and lower leg.
Shockwave is somewhat new, and we are excited to use it with our patients at Align Therapy in Lehi, Utah. This treatment is especially good for chronic tendon problems, but we will be trying it out with our chronic spine patients as well.

I had this done on a heel spur four years ago. It worked so well and I am so grateful to my therapist for helping me. I was basically unable to walk on my left foot and after five sessions I was able to walk all over New York with my daughters. Completely heeled😆

What about fat pad atrophy? Would you use it for this? If so, would you follow the same steps beginning with the calf, etc.? I have a shockwave machine & did try it on my feet and it hurt so badly that I didn’t continue. Appreciate your counsel.

I am glad that your wife has had success with this treatment . PF seems to respond to different treatments with different people . I had had PF for 2 years and I had one Shock Wave Therapy treatment , and was in severe pain in my feet for 2 plus weeks immediately afterwards. Needless to say , it is not successful with all patients . I would proceed with caution with this treatment based on my very unpleasant experience !

They may have gone too aggressive, but yes it doesn't work on everyone.

I was diagnosed with chronic pain in both my heels after an injury (falling from height). The pain was so bad, it felt like my feet were on fire, worn-out and throbbing. By chance i found out the podiatrist has a machine like this. I go there every 6 weeks and get this pulse therapy on the inside of my heels. I dont get the servere burning feeling anymore. After the treatment my heels feel great..but shortly after an itchyness comes back and some discomfort.

Had a bunch of treatments performed before shockwave therapy. From the first treatment it got a bunch better. After a series of 3 treatments I haven't had a problem in over 2 years. I did change my brand of shoes. Only Chaco flip flops and Hoka One One shoes. Wore Reefs, Vasque, Merrell and New Balance before.

I bought a SW device for the knee. Hope it works. For PF I've had success rolling my feet firmly over a golf ball (racquet ball didn't work). May try the SW device too. Thx for the video.

Would you recommend this therapy in neuropathy of the calcaneal branch (baxter)? It is a stabbing pain in the calcaneal nerve in the center of the heel. the infiltration did not work

It could. It depends how long it has been going on. There are other things I would normally do for a Baxters. Nerve glides....etc

I would stay away from the cheap home units. You just don't get good quality usually.

Thanks for the video! Does the end of the shock-wave wand move at all whilst the piston is hitting it? Similar to a massage gun, but obviously not to that degree?

It doesn't move. Internally it has a "bullet" that hits the end piece but it doesn't move.

Hello doc Im undergoing SWT for my hill spur , for me its very disscomforting like i cant take up with intensity of shock. Now i saw ur processes the difference my therapist do is she work on my spur directly with intensive shockwave without any warm-up to that feet, she treats only herl area for 5-6min n i cant take up with pain . Im so traumatised that want to leave my treatment halfway..plz suggest what should i do ...

What probé would you use for plantar fasciitis, flat, concave or convex? 36mm, 25mm15mm or 8mm?

We use mostly flat and go from larger head to smaller to isolate to the area of the problem.

I would consult the manual for your machine. They are all a little different and it also really depends on the patient.

I got a " burning " nerve sensation in the middle of my right feet, everytime i walk mote then 5 minutes its start to burn and the feeling is like a sting everytime i step, can it be treated ?

would this work if my Plantar Facitis is caused by an autoimune disease. I have it for 2 years now. I have had injections, I was on methotrexate and now I am on a biological. Will the shockwave work if I am taking an inhibitor.

@@AlignTherapyUtah A physio told me it wouldn't as the shockwave damages tissue and then the immune system kicks in and heels the damaged tissue. The meds stop this process. Is that logic true. Thank you for your response.

I have had pain in bottom of my left foot for three years. One doctor run a nerve study and diagnosed me with Tarsal Tunnel. He thinks thats what causing my foot pain. I have no numbness, tingling and no heel pain. Pain is in the arch area. Another doctors thinks it is Plantar Fasciatist. Can shockwave treat or help tarsal tunnel if thats what's causing my pain? I have donr many PTs and three injections and it never completely goes away. Thanks in advance.

I have a plantar fibroma on my right heel. My podiatrist put a couple of cortisone shots on two different visits within a month. None of the cortisone shots worked. He did shock therapy on my heel and the plantar fascia. It worked right away. If I were you I’d do shock wave therapy before surgery. Good luck to you !!

What I thought was tarsal tunnel was actually neuropathy coming from a herniated disc. Once the back started getting better so did the neuropathy. Took some months though

Since shockwave is for chronic tendon issues, our muscle, it is not specifically designed for nerves. It may irritate the nerve, but it might also loosen the surrounding tissue up. I think it is worth a try.

What r u not getting it's going to be stubborn as long as you're stubborn you seem like you're pretty smart people the herbs castor oil the way for advanced than this if you would have been using the the herbs
