Utopia on the Ocean | A Sci Fi UNREAL ENGINE 5 Short [4K]

Trying out a little serene, sci-fi ocean-scape, with a cheeky planet in the background… Also feat. your friendly neighbourhood Kaiju turtle.
Rendered in Unreal Engine 5.1.1. Lumen used for GI, RTX for reflections. Custom sky-dome and planet shaders. Rendered using a 3060ti.
Big thanks to ‪@KitBash3D‬ for letting me play with their ‘Oasis’ Kit a little early - had a blast!

When it shows the ringed planet in the sky - with the clouds: The clouds are in front of the planet, but behind the rings - which visually suggests that either the clouds are so high they go all the way into the ring system. or the rings are within the atmosphere of this water city planet. Overall, beautiful planet/city scape though!

I think it’s scary and wonderful at the same time to see how reality and real pictures merge with computer generated sceneries. But you did a great job here!

Looks great. A few little temporal and spatial aliasing issues, but conceptually, design wise, lighting, camera, animation. It's the full package. Great work! I'd love to see some shots rendered out in path tracer at full quality.

I just hope in future games everything else is at the same level as this. It's always so frustrating to have worlds that look so graphically cool, just for everything else to be so empty: bland enviroment, no things to do, dumb npcs, outdated animations

The problem with kitbash3d assets is that it never looks good upclose in a game. For the ocean is that real time or is that also rendered?

Yeah, they're kind of supposed to be a solid baseline to get you started. It's pretty much expected that you heavily modify each asset to suit your scene. Their UVs are really nice too, so I usually swap them out for megascans textures, or create custom ones from substance etc... And the ocean is also realtime! It's Gerstner wave WPO...

This next generational jump in graphics is just going to change games and how I view them in playing. Earlier, while better they still had that CGI look. But now I see "real" places. Now I need to wait for VR to be able to create this level of graphics and my mind will just melt.

@@RatEnjoy3r It's fun for me since I am 64 and in my youth the first arcade games appeared in a pizza place near me. E.g. Pong and so on. It was amazing! Later, you could buy the first consoles for home. Then my brother and a bit later I purchased our Apple II+ computers. (Mind blown, I had a computer and I loved the games.) Never stopped, from there a series of computers and the games got better and better. I never fell into the lie that it was kid stuff and I should grow up. Nope, they are a great way to unwind. I'm so happy that the industry is strong and now the current generation grows up with them. No reason for us to stop if we don't want too. I also play with my Quest 2 and VR games. Again wow, my own holodeck. ;-)
