It's crazy how high the level is for anyone even ranked in the thousands of the ATP tour. On ANY court at the recreation level the UTR 9 would be stop-playing-to-watch amazing. But the pros are just on another level; the pace is insane.

@@wilsonchen910 I'm sure Avery doesn't want to lose to his teammate who plays first doubles - I think that's just how he plays. Avery just seems to have a really weak return of serve, lazy footwork, and no real follow through on his backhands. A lot of his errors are because of lazy footwork or almost no topspin on his backhand. He obviously generates a ton of pace with he serve and forehands and has decent volleys considering his footwork. He could be really good if he got coaching to fix a few things.

@@bobbyxia7886 He gets to every ball. So his version of not trying is to chase down everything, hit bombs with his serves and forehand, but to hit floaty blocked back return of serve and use horrible technique on his backhand? His return of serve and backhand is like a UTR 7 or 8 but his serve makes him almost impossible to break - he could be a lot better with the weapons he has.

highly entertaining match, despite Avery's serve bombs: 5 aces and 15 more forced errors with his serve, including 4 on 2nd serves. That kick at 10:28 was big. At 4:29 you can see how much the kick jumps up and to the side. Patrick was hustling well and won 12/17 points in rallies that where 5 shots or longer. That ankle breaker pass at 13:22 was awesome. I had the feeling Avery was toying a bit with Patrick and was trying TV tennis shots to keep himself (and the crowds) entertained 🤣 For example, that SABRE at 6:08, the jumping overhead at 7:19 or the reverse serve at 12:33 Winston, did you get some inspiration form Avery's serve?

Based on this match, Patrick has the better groundstrokes. Avery looks to be very hard to beat because his serve is so strong. Patrick was winning the majority of the longer rallies and was way more consistent. After a couple of groundstrokes, Avery was making unforced errors. I can't tell if he was really trying or messing around though. Will be interesting to see how he gets on in college against D1 players.

Great and very entertaining match! The ATP player had a bomb of a serve! Some of his serves must of been 120mph+? As a college coach watching this match, even tho red shirt has a lot of talent and can hit big shots, I would recruit the grey shirt kid first. The red shirt knew he was better so he fooled around and played to his friends and the camera, like a Kyrgious….. college coaches hate that, we wanna see that red shirt kid take his opponent serious and go out and take care of business 8-1, or 8-2 and play hard like the grey shirt did. Granted the grey had to work hard cuz he’s not as talented but ya know what that’s what college coaches want to see. We want that kid who will grind out every point and take every match seriously and give 100% effort. The red did not give 100% and played a sloppy set but still won 8-5, coaches don’t care too much about the result, we care about the work and the way players go about getting that result. Both kids hav bright futures in the game so good luck boys!!!!

@@shreyas235 It is bittersweet because a torn shoulder limited what I could achieve. I had to turn down playing an exhibition singles match (for Stanford vs a visitor when I didn't even go to Stanford. I just taught there.) and I had to forego a friend's offer to coach me for the pro tour due to my shoulder. He beat top 10 players in his prime and was well-known in my area. I didn't get surgery until I was in my 30's. So, it feels great feeling you have talent and can hit any shot from any part of the court, but sad if you could not make the tour. :)
