Seeing USA dominate CONCACAF like this is more proof that South America and North America need to combine for international football. Scrap the Nations League and Gold Cup nonsense, just make it the Copa America. South America only has 10 countries and North America only has like 5 teams worthy of being called professional. It's about time we elevated football in the Americas.

facts, both usa and mexico would become tremendously better teams if they were included in copa america, not only that, but revenue for both sides just overall created better opportunities for the two associations, imagine one of those two competing for argentina in a final, just changes the sport

This victory is not an event , but a trend. It’s clear that the talent for the US has surpassed Mexico in recent years. In past years , Mexico could outplay the US in the midfield while the US would rely on set pieces and quick counters. Now the US can both dominate the midfield and win the battle in the air playing against Mexico. It could have been more than 2-0

This Mexico team is the worst we’ve seen since the 80s. I don’t know if they’re as bad as those Mexico teams that were getting smoked in the World Cups in the 50s and 60s. The bottom line is Mexico’s chickens have come to roost. Years of corruption and poor player development have lead to one of the weakest generations. But this doesn’t change a thing because the owners are making money.

I don't know why Reyna isn't playing at Nottingham Forrest. Pulisic couldn't get a game at Chelsea so he had to go to A.C. Milan where Italians don't care that he's American. An American has to be the best player on the team to step on the field in England. The coaches know this because the stands are full of Craig Burleys.
@ryanyarbrough6792
@ryanyarbrough6792 Ай бұрын
Gio couldn’t get playing time at Dortmund. The line was he chose Forest so it might take time to break in there, definitely time to prove himself. He is injury prone like Pulisic and Adams. That’s a big liability and it means they always have to restart during a season and in Pulisic’s case the coach changed and he was not preferred. These nuances will always be there for Gio now along with the parental anchor that will follow him. I am suspicious of ESPN’s constant crowning for Gio still.

I know absolutely zero about goalkeeping. The Adams goal looks like it was a late or hesitant reaction by the goalkeeper. If I had to guess it wasn’t bc he's old and slow. It's bc the shot went through the legs of a Mexican player like a tunnel. It looks like the keeper was waiting to see how the ball was going to deflect.
@Iwas11
@Iwas11 Ай бұрын
Speaking of tunnels. A truck was driving down the road and it was approaching a tunnel and didn't see the height clearance sign. The truck goes into the tunnel entrance and gets stuck. They call out some engineers and they are arguing how best to get the truck out with causing the least damage. A boy walks up and says...why don't you just let the air out of the tires. Do you dismiss this advice bc he's not some "expert"?

Ochoa got out of position by sliding an extra step to his left, Adams saw it and shot. If he had stayed one step back to his right to protect for a shot from outside he would’ve saved it. Same with Reyna’s goal, he switched off when the ball was cleared out(he thought) and didn’t have his feet set or eye on the ball.

I really liked Reyna playing deeper. Allowed him to be more involved and also let him be a little more free. When he's so far up the field, it feels like he's stuck for us. A lot of the times we can't get him the ball in a good position. I hope we keep trying to play him deep like we did against mexico and see how it works out. For me, as of right now his best strength is his vision, and that let use maximize his use of it.

I feel they will definitely be competitive in the Copa America. They will bring their A team, obviously most of the guys that were on this roster, plus a few others here and there that may finish their club season strong and earn a spot on the roster. If i recall correctly the U.S. made the Semis and finished in 4th place at the 2016 Copa America which was hosted in the states as well. This team is a lot better then the 2016 team, unfortunately though, we have Berhalter as coach. So anything can happen.

I do find it a bit odd how USMNT seems to value this tournament more than the Gold Cup, which is according to FIFA the actual CONCACAF championship tournament. Even going so far last time as to use the first team for this cup and the B/C squad backups for the Gold Cup (which US was knocked out in semifinals by Panama and Mexico won)

The U.S. “golden generation” is being coddled by USSF for the sake of profits. The team is literally playing at least 24 of 26 games at home through the Copa America. The numbers below don’t lie over the past 3 years with this group. They are a completely different team under Berhalter away from home. You can’t accurately judge this team playing almost exclusively at home when they are so poor in comparison on the road. U.S. Away Record -2 wins, 7 losses, 6 draws (26.67% of points collected and 13.33% win percentage) -15 total matches U.S. Home Record 22 wins, 3 losses, 4 draws (80.46% of points collected and 75.86% win percentage) -29 total matches

Its not too late to fire Berhalter and hire a legit experienced coach that could at least bring some kind of tactics and get better performances out of this team. Other than random moments of individual players doin something, as a team they just fumblefuck down the pitch, and if thy dont get the ball to bounce the right way or defense fucks up, we turn it over or a shitty pass out of bounds. I thought we looked pretty weak just Mexico is fucked off right now 😂 I bet we lose to Bolivia in group play in Copa America 😂

US and Mexico play with similar mentality problems. They're teams that play like they're afraid of losing rather than eager to win. US simply had the better talent. Berhalter is consistently being bailed out by that fact. Give him a B team squad (who I would say are still better than the squad we had 10 years ago with players like Zimmerman, Jesus Ferriera, Tessmann, Vasquez, Busio, Yedlin, etc) , and he'll lose against Barbados, TnT, Cuba, El Salvador, etc. The real coaches on that team was Ream, Pulisic, and Adams.

Mexico will keep being mid until true change comes into the federation which it won’t because of money. We don’t have world class players period. (Some MX fans are delusional if they say we do have them) The US have a better pool of players in Europe and have a higher ceiling than our young players. I don’t see this ever getting better, if the US keep pushing to raise the level, they will dominate the concacaf and probably do better in the World Cup than we have ever done. The 2-0 is just the icing 🧁 like a lot of people that understand this, we are just cynical now lol
