UV light passes through thick glass and causes fluorescence in diamonds indoors.

To dispel the argument that UV light that causes color whitening in blue fluorescent diamonds does not pass through windows. This bathroom door is 10mm thick or 0.4 inches!
The center diamond is GIA Medium Blue. Clearly the diamonds are fluorescing.
What is more, the long wave frequency used for grading fluorescence has around half the effect as these simple cheap torches which work in the near visible range. It is for this reason that earlier tests (with the wrong light meters) are totally irrelevant.
This simple test shows that very long wave UV that is in the just or near visible range does pass through windows.

this looks like 400nm light is that the case? have you ever seen any diamonds fluoresce a color other than blue and does 400nm excite phosphorescence in any diamonds or is it only shorter wavelengths?

Or you could just save a lot of time and look up the optical transmittance of glass. Around 85% transparent at 365nm. Science.

Natural diamonds have larger and overall more inclusions than lab diamonds and the inclusions will contain nitrogen, whereas lab diamonds don't. If you mean just by LOOKING at the diamonds though, you can't. They're chemically, physically, and optically THE SAME THINGS.

I have an important question. I have 2 princess diamonds that came out of some yellow gold earrings. They sink in water but when doing a dot test I can see through a bit.its my understanding that some facet cuts will allow you to see thru regardless when real. A lot of gemologists say that windows cut out the UV but they do not understand that near visible and visible violet create stronger blue fluorescence than shorter 365nm long wave UV that has no relevance to diamonds but is used for colored gem ID.
