The Uxbridge to Lindsay Rail Trail is probably to most peaceful of all the rail trails that I have been on. The 45 KM trail runs through a combination of low wetlands, arable and livestock farms and shaded wood lots. I visited it after a couple of days of heavy rain and found myself picking my way around extensive muddy puddles. I suspect that if you rode it in drier months it would be a very comfortable ride. As it was, navigating the water was actually quite good fun, and an excuse to get muddy.

Welcome to my Back Yard! I ride this section all the time but haven't been out much this year. I've never seen that level of flooding in the fall. Spring perhaps but never fall. You missed a nice 12km detour north at Blackwater Junction (Cannington). Maybe next time? 😃 Also it is indeed one of the least used trails in the area. Rarely see more than a couple/few people on any given day - even long weekends. Beyond Lindsay the trail conditions are pristine with packed crushed gravel all the way to Hastings. You'll love it. Things really fall apart east of Campbellford, however. I never did get to Uxbridge this year. Thanks for posting! 😃

So glad you got to this trail. We did it last weekend, and yes very wet through the marsh land then it dried up. I love this trail and find it so remote and enjoyable. Hope to see you on it cheers my friend

Laura and I seem to be following you around a bit, although we got to this one exactly 51 weeks after you did. It was a lot drier for us, although every other element looks almost identical down to the cows standing on the pile of dirt, and we did it starting in Lindsay rather than Uxbridge, which means we had a particularly good lunch at the Uxbridge end with some family.

Nice looking ride. If you’re ever in the Hamilton area you should check out the Chippewa Trail to Caledonia->Gypsum Mine Trail to York->then back along the Grand River. I’ve mapped it on my Ride With GPS if you’re interested.

Yeah, we've had some pretty good rain the last few days of October. This trail is one I wanted to do this past summer (load up my gravel bike for bikepacking, stay overnight in Lindsay and see how that works out). Thanks for the great preview. BTW, I think all the rail trails are going to be wet right now.

That looked good! I like a nice quiet ride. I’ve never seen the term “Trail Unassumed”. Maybe it’s a term we don’t use in Australia. I now know what it means😀. I’ve got a road bike and a mountain bike. A nice gravel bike in between would be good. 👍. All the best.

I use mainly a GOPro Hero 5 black. I will often use a Sony ZV1 for scenery and talking to the camera and then a cheaper GoPro (either 7 white or silver) mounted on my handlebars.

@@ianbarr4716 Not at all. It's still a bit hit and miss as to the accuracy of reports and then I also find that depending on the time of year trails vary dramatically. It's not just a case of weather impacting them, but maintenance also varies throughout the year.

Thanks for posting this! I'm thinking of biking from Toronto to Lindsay this summer and was wondering about this trail. Do you think 622-28 (700c-28c) tires can handle this trail? Thanks!

There is a parking lot at the north end of Centennial Park, which is where I left my vehicle. It's then about a 1 KM ride to the trail head.
