Der Sound ist einfach Klasse, ich bin ein sehr Begeisterter Mercedes Fan, vor allem die Alten Truck's. Hab bei Mercedes Gelernt anfang der 90iger Jahre. Ich mag nur das alte Zeug, die sind noch KERNIG.

If only you could hear it live, man, that thing is thundering, especially at low revs, if it passes very close to the house, at times you'd be forgiven for fearing it will crack the window panes with just its thunderous bass sound.

The driver could fix it and did sometimes ,no computers needed ,diagnostic was a word the doctor used I worked a lot on 1418 bull nose and straight fronted what a truck I was a bit of a kid but I loved those Mercs two thing I will always remember the hand brake brackets would snap and the water rails would crack round the head joint lovely trucks happy days thanks Alf Bert and Dave not forgetting you Barry 👍👨🏻‍🏭

this can be repaired with only tools because it doesn't have electronics like the new ones that's why you can fix it without computer but in new ones you need computer to fix them because of too many electronics tue old ones are better they aleays was and they will always be

Mit dem Ding habe ich 1990 angefangen wenn man zu schnell schaltete in die kleine Gruppe also von 5 auf 4 war es sehr schlecht in den Bergen von Göttingen bis kurz vor Fulda im Winter das Bremssystem eingefroren kein ABS das wär in der heutigen Zeit mal ein Fahrschl Fahrzeug das war noch echte Arbeit

Dad was in the haulage industry as a driver and now so am I, I’ve always been attracted to the interiors in the old girls, don’t know what but there’s just something about them. Probably because of the lack of plastic shite, I drive a merc and the auto box is bollox, give me a splitter any day and I’m happy, just not a bloody iveco, with a passion I despise them, now a 143m and well, yes I’m a scania wanker 😂

It kinda sounds like the V10 in the Touareg and Phaeton. But more like a true truck diesel as well :) Love trucks with manual shifters, but I always had that question: Why do you shift the gears so slowly/carefull?

The thing with trying to rush a ZF synchro truck gearbox is that the harder you push the stick the harder it pushes back. The way to do it is just hold the stick against the synchro and when it's ready it drops in.

its a 1932, so that means its loading capacity of about 19 tons,with around 320 bhp.a v10 just couldnt fit in the bodywork,its too small .Then the sound,it just doesnt sound like 10 cylinders,then,its got 320 bhp,although cars of that time had many cylinders and not much power,it wouldnt make any to put 10 cylinders,when a 6 cylinder could have pumped out the same power.

de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-Benz_OM_401/OM_402/OM_403/OM_404 Modular Engine that came with 6-8-10 or 12 cylinders. This one is the OM403 with 10 cylinders and 320 bhp. Displacement around 15.0 litres. The V6 made around 190 bhp. Keep in mind this is a design from the 60s

@@alexandermutzel7950 ein NG 2 achser Kipper hab ich vor einiger zeit bei mir auf der einer Baustelle gesehen dachte ich seh nicht richtig :-) , glaub nicht das ein V10 war , war ''nur ein 1222 ' glaub ich , und auch ein SK Fährt hier noch regelmässig rum ein 3 Achser kipper, sieht wie neu aus , soundmässig muss man nicht drüber reden , da kommt keiner mehr ran heute

You never drove a manual car? Of course you have to. But because its an old Lorry without a syncronized transmission you have to wait for the rpm to go down before you shift into an higher gear and push the gas to increase the rpm in order to shift down so the engine speed fits to the transmission speed.

It is fully synchromesh ZF transmission. You have to use clutch every time you shift. If you don´t, it rapidly destroys the synchro rings. So you can´t "float" the gears either. Most european trucks have used fullsynchro gearboxes for the last 60/70 years. But not all, of course. Eaton Fuller Roadranger has always been popular choice for some brands. As you can see in the clip, this box may be a bit worn already. Even at best a fullsynchro box is slow to use, compared to Roadranger. In normal highway use, europeans usually preferred fullsynchro boxes. Also, in the clip you can see, when the box started to wear, truckers learned to match the revs and/or doubleclutch. Since most of the comments seem to be from teenagers, for you american teenagers, a "fullsynchro" box is what you find in european cars with "stick" gears.

Yeah, it's a v10. Mercedes were late to the party when it came to fitting turbos to trucks, so they used naturally aspirated large capacity v6/v8/v10
