I think the last domino at the end of the chain is a message telling him that he has to manually do one more thing to complete his plan (the whole picture). In this case it would mean he would have to remove himself (the individual domino) from the picture, i.e. sacrifice himself. Superb film.

@Aeroldoth38 жыл бұрын
I saw it differently. I saw all the dominoes falling, everything going according to plan, yet one remained unfallen. To me, it was a message that even the greatest of plans can be blocked, when a single domino refuses to fall. It was a message that a single person can make a difference. It was a message that you or I can change even the most seemingly impossible of realities. It was a message of hope... and encouragement.
@mariekano97307 жыл бұрын
I saw it as all those dominoes falling were a chain of chaos. V said violence can be used for good. And sometimes if you want things to stop if you want freedom a new world order something has to start and a chain of reactions happen and then it comes to an end. That one piece of the domino was the complete stop of chaos. Like all that violence and protests and fighting eventually paid off and stopped and finally received freedom. in order for revolution to happen someone has to start them and then people will follow, a chain of constant corruption will happen and eventually it will end. The one piece was V, what he stood for, a new world order.

Start something that won't finish in your lifetime. Stop caring what anyone else thinks. Start caring how everyone else feels. Whatever you do, involve people where possible, build community not individualism. Be the guy or girl that makes people turn their head and smile, or comment on because each time you do, you break the status quo just by being alive, you count. It should be something you celebrate when the masses call you crazy, because crazy is the tool of the masses or a fearful mind to repress something different to itself. STOP USING LABELS and start questioning every single one you see someone use, their motivations and reasons. Start validating peoples emotions instead of stopping them, its okay to be angry, sad, fearful, whatever, these are the cues to change something and the impetus to do so. @ToEuropa6 ай бұрын
V stole priceless and forbidden works of art from the vaults of a totalitarian militaristic government, and he stole top-quality food from the High Chancellor's personal supply chain. Stealing money - or selling some of what he stole - would hardly be more difficult. Once he had the funds, he could purchase anything he wanted from anywhere inside or outside of the UK, and he could spread those orders out over numerous suppliers and over a period of years to defer suspicion, since he'd been planning and building up to these events for a decade. Although we only see one example of it, V is clearly capable of disguising himself and interacting with others undiscovered. In carrying out a 10-year-long plan, he had undoubtedly forged many connections with dissidents inside and outside the government, as well as the kind of black-market sources that even the most crushing of totalitarian governments never manage to squash. I suspect that he had many false identities through which he acquired what he needed.

This montage is fucking art. The most cohesive amalgamation of storytelling elements-music, editing, writing-all wound tightly around the scene between Finch and Dascombe. And the way the scene’s tension is built-with its false release of “it was only a feeling”-a semi-sweet joke couched before part 2 of the rising action of Orwellian themes, culminating in the true climax of the final Domino cascade, a visual representation of the unstoppable force paradox.
@Nikyza904 жыл бұрын
The chills. No matter how many times I see it, I always shiver. Everything is so well concatenated. The climax musical, the imperiousness of the chancellor on the big screen (great interpretation by John Hurt btw) the anger painted on the citizens' faces. But it's at 3:14 that we reach perfection. The music stops and then the crescendo ... up to the beautiful domino scene. The FALL. It is almost hypnotic. Immense opera by Alan Moore, but James McTeigue was brilliant at knowing how to translate it. Chapeau!

Voila! In view humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the “vox populi” now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a bygone vexation stands vivified, and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin, van guarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition. The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it’s my very good honour to meet you and... you may call me V.

As someone who's worked in postal and courier work, hundreds of thousands of identical parcels all showing up for every address in town simultaneously would have us contacting the police long before they ever got delivered. Also it'd slow us right the fuck down stopping at every house.

Id wager V was smarter than that. He probably shipped them randomly over a good frame of time and it was only when the Inspector got his that they began to look into it closely. The scenes we're seeing in this clip aren't taking place across days but weeks and probably months.

From a logistical standpoint it makes no sense, but I see the masks as a metaphor/representation for/of V's ideas rather than literal physical deliveries or objects, which everyone is receiving and wearing (concurring with). It also explains how "dead" characters come back at the end, because while they may have been physically killed the ideas they held (represented by the mask) had not.

I like to think that over the Year that V had been working on this plan the people in London all(or at least most)had come round to Vs way of thinking, so much so that when this happened the people in the postal service didn't report it as most of them were V sympathizers

It's worth noting that this is happening in a totalitarian state. I've always liked the significance of the last domino. He has set the pieces for the future but it's not his decision. It's the next people's decision to pursue that path. V set it up to fix the problem,but she as the future of the action taken must make the choice. The past will only teach if the future listens. It is the choice we must all make. Do you chose to be held down and back by your past, or do you chose to break that wall and move forward.?

The end of the scene never fails to fill me with melancholy. Seeing V pick up the last domino piece and wistfully look at it, I've always felt like he was contemplating his own self. The last piece, supporting the outcome of an entire chain reaction made of hundreds more, still standing while all the others fell; A key element, so important and determining, and yet... absolutely alone. A perfect metaphor of his whole life, both brilliant and incredibly sad. It shows how an idea can easily support a nation... but the man behind it has the beaviest burden of all to carry.
@King-Omega-7 жыл бұрын
That's an interesting take on it. When I watched it I saw it as he was the last piece, which had to fall to complete the picture. Which of course he does, he sacrifices himself to complete the plan as his work was done.

Change your perspective. If you're younger than 40, the war was 'lost' in the 1970's. You only thought things were normal. Things seem chaotic because people are standing up.
