Personally my favorite experience so far in this game is the ways that enemies will interact with each other. Firstly, it creates a very immersive environment where I feel like I’m part of the world, rather than the world being just catered to me. Secondly, it really really adds to the fantasy of an opportunistic vampire able to take advantage of enemies that weaken each other. I was exploring an area that I was barely geared enough to be in, i think somewhere in mid act 2 in the Dunley farms area, when a couple very high level enemies wandered through a militia camp. Initially I ran away bc I was only around lvl 40 and they were 55+, but moments later, I heard fighting in the distance (another feature I love) and went to investigate. Turns out, the mini boss had just fought its way through the entire militia camp (clearing it for me) *and* was down to about 1/4 HP and lost all but one of its followers which was also weakened. I immediately fought them before they could auto-heal, and was able to beat them and drain their blood to try out a new blood type. Idk this was the moment when I realized “oh shit, the devs really do love this game”.

I have been loving this game. The sunlight mechanic is very forgiving and if you want it to be you can tweak the settings of your own server when you go to load it if you suddenly want to do that or build more castles or have more servants or collect recourses faster, whether or not you can teleport with certain things you can turn on and off anytime you load your own game. It’s great. The world is really fun to experience as well. I was hunting the 3rd boss yesterday and all I knew is he’s a big dude with a hammer I think. I made sure I was the same level so it wouldn’t be too hard at the moment. I make my way into an encampment and at the top I see a big dude with a name I don’t bother reading as I heal and then start attacking. It was a really fun fight where I had to stay on my toes the whole time. I’m cutting it close but finally defeat him only to realize this is not the level 25 “3rd boss” I was looking for but the “5th boss” at level 27. I thought that was a fun moment. Also you can track and fight any boss again, I don’t think you get loot, but I love love love games where you can fight bosses again at basically any time.

Correction for ya, you do actually get loot, as some bosses drop schematics/blueprints for equipment, and you can effectively farm them that way.

I've only had this game for a few weeks, playing both the end of early access and now in the start of full release. It's my new favorite game. I think you said it perfectly when talking about the balance between the different genres this game takes inspiration from and slots into. It's a beautiful game with a huge amount of content and incredibly satisfying progression and mechanics. I'm a student studying game design atm and am genuinely considering applying for an internship at Stunlock Studios so I can learn more about the game and it's awesome team.

Looking forward to diving back into the game now that 1.0 is out. The combat system was what really kept me going in the game. Like you said, they really perfected the formula in a way no one else has been able to, and very few developers seem to even try. I saw some new bosses in the video that I'm excited to fight as well. I'm curious how many more game modifiers they've added (if any) to the server options as well. There was plenty before, but I know at the time my friends were looking for some very specific features we ended up having to cheat in with console commands to get the experience everyone wanted from it.

Battlerite fan here. When I picked this game up in EA, I didn't even remember the name of the studio that made Battlerite. But when I started the game and got into my first instance of combat, I -immediately- thought, "This feels like Battlerite. Who made this?" I cannot express enough how amazing the combat and overall gameplay in this title feels. Boss fights are so excellent. I played about 15 hours of it in EA, then put it away to wait for 1.0. Cannot wait to dig into this.

I should try it again. My main complaint back in the first launch was that spells were unbelievably boring, because they were too balanced, so to speak - made to be functional reskins of each other with slightly different elements so as to be more readable in PVP. The weapon skills and magic were also just constrained to an incredibly small power curve with minimal variance outside of the raw gearscore scaling. The combat in the footage looks much less bland.

Controller comments sound like you have a custom controller profile installed or have steam controls enabled. The v1.0 controller scheme uses Y to turn on camera turn which then requires using the shoulder buttons to rotate. It also does in fact bring up visual cues to let you know which button does what.

V Rising is as close to a 10/10 game as it gets for me, even with the few minor nitpicks i have with it. I just can't stop playing, combat is so much fun on Brutal with a few additional difficulty tweaks i made to tailor it to my tastes and i regularly get lost for hours at a time expanding and perfecting my Vampire sanctuary. I've seen almost no natural sunlight since i started last week. Truly the best immersive Vampire simulator ever. It even turned me into a nightwalker.

To be fair with the Accessibility and Customization part being able to tune the difficulty, resource farming, time, combat, ect has been part of the game well before gloomrot. Now something that they did improve upon is you used to not be able to change your settings for your private save after you initially made it, you could only do that if you had a dedicated server and you edited the txt file. This was annoying because I would have to start over if I found something annoying on my game that wasn't running 24/7 but would have been fine on a dedicated server. Also as a side note I think they took away the multiplier for blood quality. I remember throwing that on 2x because even 50% were rare and finding a 100% blood was near impossible. Now it seems like that option is gone, which is a little less of an issue now with Irradiated Gruel and I think they upped the % default as well. However its still a bit of a nit pick as far as Customization is concerned. Something I do want to point out is I bought this game for like $20 when it first came out on steam, and at the time I felt like I got my money's worth. With gloomrot and now the full version release its only gotten better. Plus I bought the plague chemist cosmetic set a long while ago, and they released MORE cosmetics for that set and gave them to me for FREE. That is something they 100% did not need to do but it does speak a lot on their priorities.

I have played it a couple of weeks on my own server, so no other players in my world. I just wanted to build a nice castle. The game is a lot of fun, but it does have a few issues. Controls were difficult to get used to and you spend a lot of time just travelling around the map. Other than that, the game is great, especially the building portion. So weird not having xp though. The only way to progress is to kill the bosses, that is the entire progression, and if you have a problem with specific bosses, you will be stuck until you kill it. I just have to get better at the controls, that is totally on me.

While I admit I only played the game early on when it first came out, I personally didn't jibe with the feel of the combat, but that was mainly because early on it did not feel good to struggle to take out villagers as a vampire. To be fair, I also don't play MOBA's, so it was a new experience completely with that style of combat, and I know as I get more powerful the villagers would be less of a threat (I assume), it just gave me a feeling of 'something isn't right' as my scary vampire battled for his life against Jimmy the potato farmer. :p (that was a long time ago though, I might also be mis-remembering)

Great review. I like the "end game" V rising has introduced, but I believe the game core and strongest aspect isn't the end game. It's how you get to the endgame that counts. The race against other players on PVP server. As solo/duo/quad right after wipe is by far the best way to play the game. All the scramble for for key resource, best base locations. Maybe not on your first try. I also started PVE, but eventually.

odd that your controller experience went down like that. i use a controller exclusively (big tv, big couch) and the game does show the button icons. beyond that it even rearranges the HUD almost completely to group things to match the controller better (d-pad and d-pad hold items are 2 rows of 4 vs numbers 1-8). camera rotation is done by holding Y/triangle and then using the left/right triggers for 'slow' rotation, bumpers for quick 45 degree jumps.

@Mugthief
@Mugthief Ай бұрын
I haven’t beaten the final boss and started the pure endgame grind yet, but I think once you get a perfect build it’s just PvP and Castle-Sieging. The 4 bosses have some really powerful gear that can be made to break, and limit it to only one person or clan on the server, so fighting for control of the 4 accessories could be cool, but AFAIK once you reach that endgame your done. I’m not into “forever” games anymore, so I like it this way, but if youre looking for that, be warned.

I have been playing for almost the time it was released in early access Tbh although it feels like a lot of skills or varied boss mechanics but it's bloody all the same As for Boss you need to be at a certain lvl to fight the boss If you are below you just take too much damage but if you are at the required lvl it's too easy that most of there mechanics don't even matter PvP is good but PVE is alas not good Day night cycle sounds good but feels frustrating

I played EA for over 300 hours. I can already tell its launch is about to get 300 more. ❣🦇

The gamepad issue appears to be for Xbox controllers. PS5 changes to the bindings and is a much better experience.

Sounds like a good game that a lot of people are enjoying. As someone who doesn’t enjoy survival games probably not for me.

Not only is this game good the whole early access process was professional. The first version was already in a good state. There are to many early access dumpster fires out there.
