These kids have no freakin' idea how blessed they are to have Pretty Purdie in the same zipcode much less to be basking in his presence!!

I met him when i was 3 and there was also Damien Schmidt im so sad that i didn't realize the luck that i had

Legend has it that his left hand ghost notes still haunt that auditorium. Friggin what a legendary giant of a drummer. Thank you Mr. Purdie.
@hemnair754 жыл бұрын
There is just something natural and even comforting in a big man playing bass. So awesome to see two masters of their craft just having fun.
@dudersmart7 жыл бұрын
daamn Purdie is a sick drummer. A pleasure to watch
@joe225896 жыл бұрын
Although Purdie is not far from his 80s, he still is the nonplusultra when it comes to groove, style and effective drumming. Every opened high-hat is more worthy than these double-bass-drum-weirdos. Purdie has class and taste. Go! Bernard!!

joe22589 All Purdie's has class and taste. Its always awesome to see family doing their thing.

joe22589 So true, bro. Just thaught the same. Bernard lets it breathe and groove.

Drum artistry : groove, musicality , feel, time, syncopation , pocket Bernard Purdie has it all ! Real good bass player.
@sosmooth76 жыл бұрын
The best funky pocket drummer there has ever been. There probably not a drummer who has taken from Bernard Purdie. Really what funk and syncopation is all about.

I'd not be in a seat. You'd see me on the outskirts getting my groove on. Then I dash in the circle get funky and the exit quickly as I worry I draw attention

This video shows why I hate the current culture. Everybody tries to be cool and for what!! It’s ok to express yourself outwardly and nod your head or shake your body. This performance was groovy
@dragonofelbereth6 жыл бұрын
His consistency with rim shots is amazing--look at how destroyed his stick is halfway down
@windsofmarchjourneyperrytr28234 жыл бұрын
I have watched him.from 5 feet away and I never liked the way he destroys sticks. He puts his China upside down, ruining sticks for no reason. If you use stuff right, it's rare to ruin anything. I've seen idiots break the hinge on pedals. And these were DW. Why? What does it prove? It doesn't make it sound any better, either. Doesn't make you a better player.
@auto_53 жыл бұрын
Winds of March Journey/Perry tribute band - I hear you on his performance, but sticks definitely do get worn out regularly, and sometimes even quickly. It all depends on what kind of music, what kind of drum/cymbal hit, how often, and the intensity(velocity?) of the hits.
@nero16743 жыл бұрын
The way all of ‘em vibe to that jam! I love it!
@TheDoctor14926 жыл бұрын
This audience does not understand the gravitas of the event they were at.
@funklover244 жыл бұрын
I would give a lot being there and watchin the masters jamming. Saw Bernard once in a clinic and he was awesome. Demonstrating the Purdie-shuffle on the highest level and bringing the most important in music: Good vibes.
@loslobos94613 жыл бұрын
They probably don’t know what gravitas means!
@ronbradshaw74042 жыл бұрын
And some texting and playing with their phones...
@teteskone412 жыл бұрын
Well, given the two masses involved, the gravitational field should be intense enough.

@biohazardcel4 жыл бұрын
the bass line at the beginning was from Billy from Jimi Hendrix and the band of gypsy at Filmore east on new years???
@anta404 жыл бұрын
Nope. The bass line was taken from Buddy Miles' Them Change. Jaco also took that part while covering Hendrix's Third Stone from the Sun.
@handidrummed7 жыл бұрын
The audio is a shame. The bass is too loud and all you can hear from Purdie is the snare and kick. His cymbals are practically silent.
@artemkhaleev91086 жыл бұрын
what is the name of the melody in the beginning?

"Them Changes," by Buddy Miles.

@jmartin676 жыл бұрын
Even as a bass player, I'd have enjoyed this so much more if it was just Purdie all by himself. The bass mix is obnoxious. And the audience is in a coma.
