I had just purchased the V8 about one week before they released the 2.0. It looks really awesome and I was waiting for your review. I thought SabNeo would have gone in the sn pixel v4 direction with an sd card, maybe their own app too. I put the sn pixel v4 in the v8 and never been happier. SabNeo has really good hilt designs but I’m not overly impressed with their cores. Too bad this one has a lot of flaws. 🙁

Just got one of these today. One of the first things I've found and should be corrected in your video is that access to the charging port is far simpler than you've shown. You don't have to take the lower hilt attachment off, it is actually two parts that screw together in the middle. All you need to do to expose the charging port is to unscrew the lower half from the upper half. I do think that it is an overly complex design, though. There has to be a simpler way of securing the various parts than with silly little allen screws. It could also do with a better quality tool set.

They've redesigned it since this review. Glad to hear they've made it simpler to access the charging port. I'll put an update in the description and hopefully get a replacement sleeve with the 2 parts that thread together. The ones I've received use a single lower section that needs to be completely removed in order to access the charging port.

Cool, the *Kyrios* hilt by Robert Lawson. The design was made by a Jedi Knight: Outcast/Academy player. SaberForge stole the design and openly mocked him when he confronted them. Hopefully SABNEO were less jerks about this.

it looks like they heard all your complaints. I just received my gold one from Amazon. The gold part of the hilt screws off, and the black part of the hilt unscrews as well, but they have a small opening for the usb port. , also the off center thing, they fixed with washer (a rubber ring). Also, all the blades and ignitions have names. Still loud as hell though lol. Also, it was a little different to attach the blade, two screws (one small in the back) and one larger in the front. Over all, it's pretty sweet that they listened to you. I forgot to mention that the core doesn't wobble either.

Yes they did. They sent me a new revised model to review. They also made changes to the core as you mentioned. The volume has been decreased around 3db and sounds a lot better.

I got this saber just the other day and I wish I would've found your video first. All of the issues you had were apparent in my saber, the core was loose and the pommel and emitter piece didn't match up either. Thankfully their customer service was excellent and I was able to get refunded

I just got one v8 original and it actually is Amazing for its price most definitely. But how could they miss the option to change blade retraction/turnoff type. 🤔 🧐 they should release a firmware update. Edit: they also updated the box, now it is a lift top box and with a plastic insert rather than foam

You don't need to unscrew screws to charge, the grip is in two halves, you were taking off both halves at once, the bottom half can come of alone, thanks for the review, helped with the controls 😅

Hi, I was thinking of buying the 2.0 soundboard from the website as I have the original v8 saber. Is it possible to change that board and replace that core with the new one?

As long as they offer the 2.0 in the 2 button configuration. The one they have listed is the single button. I'd message them and ask them if they're selling it with the 2 button config. There are other 2 button cores that also work on the V8 pixel 😉

Contact SABNEO. It would seem the speaker is defective or the wiring to the speaker is broken. They'll most likely send you a replacement core.

Unfortunately no. You can buy an SN-Pixel V4 2 button core and swap it if you desire or look for another saber that can. You have a few choices in the budget category. Sn-pixel v4, h-pixel, xeno v2, xeno v3.

Mmmmmm not to sure on it, it looks like its the same button that a pain on the V8, silver parts look and sound cheep metal, that rattle should never be, and the programming is naff, Great video and shown me that I don't need this Saber, Thanks for the great Video.

The latest blades I've received have a bit of wobble inside. I've emailed them and told them that they need to use thicker foam inside. The pixel lava blade on the other hand doesn't have any wobble. I'm not sure what's going on in their factory but they need to be more consistent. If you're looking for a pixel blade just for spins, these will do fine.

Hi there, and thank you for another great review! I can understand that you are disapointed; and since I am waiting for my alpha right now, so am I. ;o) But in my opinion it is primarily a quality issue: The design is nice (of course a matter of taste), value for money is also great. The features are outstanding: As far as I know, you cannot get any other neopixel lightsaber with standard ignition (lights up, lights down every time) and steady blade in this price range (119€ in Germany). So yes, they (literally) screwed up with the screws, the rattling and the speaker (all these issues are hardly tolerable, I give you that!), but on the other hand you will get something in return that you cannot get from another company for that money. And because of that, I continue to looking forward to my alpha. And thanks to I now know what to expect (I had very high hopes, too) and how to cure it where possible: Keep up the good work! ;o)

It's not just quality. It's having to take out screws to charge it. There's no fast way to cycle through soundfonts, blade effects or ignition effects. I've reviewed a few sabers that can do more for less money.

@@thefrugaljedi A matter of perspective, as so often: I do not know any other neopixel lightsaber under 120€ that allows me to have simple lights up and down effects as seen in the movies. Some can do great things, but this basic standard procedure seems to be exclusive to the alpha in this price range, despite all the issues it does have. "More" does not mean "more movie accurate", this is my point. ;o) Please enlighten me if you know any neopixel saber that is under 120€ and can do movie accurate power up and down light effects. I am eager to learn. - Thank you! Question is: Can one live with all the issues (rattling, screws, unscrew to charge, distorting speaker at high volume) or would it be wiser to spend more money for a lightsaber that does it all...? - And it is so good that you pointed out all that; I am going to post a critical review myself on the Sabneo website and I am curious whether they will delete it or not. Cheers!

@@thefrugaljedi Thank you, I will! :o) And this is where the fun begins: I got my alpha today. You thought yours has issues? - Brace for impact: Mine has blade rattling. Further one of the allen screws to hold the board has been caged inside since it was rattling, too. Cost me a lifetime and a half to get it out. And the saber seems to be used, it has little chips and dents. Thank you very much for the electrical tape hint: Works great! The performance on the other hand is pretty convincing: Finally I have a movie accurate neopixel lightsaber! :o) To everyone else: DO NOT BUY IT unless you don't mind all the issues described here. @Sabneo: You should call them back and do them right: This is everything but consumer friendly!!!! I have posted a negative review on Sabneo's website and it never showed up, and since the other two opinions seem to be fake (they had already been there before the saber was officially shipped), I will not buy from this company ever again for I do not like to be taken for a ride. :o(

Wow! What a disappointment was hoping the alpha would be great for a customized lightsaber hilt. Oh well I am really excited to hear about the sabneo V8 2.0 . Really hope for a better speaker installed and lower profile buttons. Anyways love channel and look foward to many more episodes. P.s. I have bought parts for different sabers as well as for the sab neo v7 and v8 almost never turns out i planned but ends up looking pretty cool anyways. But an episode on not just who's parts fit what sabers but add those control boxes in as well, I think that would be a great. Series of episodes. -Sabneo V8. Warrior the Special Edition.- Also i made a saber hilt for my extra sabneo v8. Core but was wonder any other empty saber hilts fit that core? Thanks again!

That's pretty bad when you know you can get a deal more for a good deal less. But even at those lower prices I'd be pissed to see all this. For the cost of these, at least the menus could have had a more refined feel than generic names, and repeating soundfonts is terrible. I like the pommel, sound-wise, but that doesnt redeem this at all, lol. And the issue of how they're securing this core in the hilt is one that all the companies are kind of starting to go wrong with. Especially TXQ starting to go with only one screw behind the button. Not good, really.. 😮‍💨
