1967 Chevrolet Camaro RS Convertible Upgrades at V8 Speed and Resto Shop V8TV
This very clean 1967 Chevrolet Camaro RS/SS convertible recently came to the V8 Speed and Resto Shop in need of a heart transplant. The 396 under the hood was pretty anemic, and the owner wanted some more power, so the V8 Speed team upped the ante with a new Chevrolet Performance ZZ427. This is a 480 horsepower big block Chevy V8, and the V8 crew topped it with a Holley Terminator Stealth EFI system.
The Camaro is a real RS car, born in the same black exterior and parchment interior colors you see here. It has some cool options, like the rally gauge package in the console and the headrests topping the bucket seats.

However, this one is not all stock, by any stretch. In addition to that thumping 427, you’ll find a 5-speed manual transmission in place of the original 4-speed, and tubular suspension and coil-over springs and shocks for better handling. The wheels look right, but they are upsized billet aluminum Chevy Rally style wheels wrapped in custom modern redline tires from Diamondback Classics. These are a great choice for any restomod Camaro.
The Holley Terminator Stealth fuel injection system looks almost exactly like a Holley double pumper carb, but offers better starting, instant response, and modern fuel and timing control that can’t be matched by a carburetor. The 427 utilizes aluminum heads and a full roller cam valvetrain, so the risk of flattening a lobe or trashing a lifter is negated.
We always like to build tasteful restomods here at the V8 Speed and Resto Shop. If you’ve got a Camaro or any other Muscle Car that needs some love, we’re happy to chat about it! You can reach us at www.v8speedshop.com today.

Thank you to the owner for not putting a generic LS motor in it! Keeping to the original vision of the creators. Nice build.

Why go LS....drop some AFR 265 heads on this and a small matching efi cam and make 650hp at 7000rpm, live forever.... I'm putting over 1000hp for years thru my 52 year old block in my 67 camaro with a F1A-94 procharger...I dont even have to run an intercooler with gapless top rings its almost indestructible...it was also dirt cheap to build...BBC parts fell out to nothing because of LS engines ( which I also build )...I smiled and gathered.... My car does mid 20mpg cruising 74mph on interstate thru the 4l80e with billet lockup and home built street tunnel ram converted to sequential MPI ( they don't make a holley high ram for us to just order )... Only thing I besides twice the cost I feel like I'm missing out on with a LS7, is the superior sealing of the LS... With the new steel core gaskets and even boost specific main seals its better,. I'm pushing over 15psi of boost on 93 and I don't even need a catch can.... I really wish chevy had kept making them but made a 12-18 degree head package for them like the LS has ( that's why they are powerful their heads/valve angles ) with some modern intakes that don't cost $5000...think BOSS 302 intake..... I almost did it with a spare 6.0L I have but when I weighed it all out it wasn't even a 100lbs difference....and everyone does it....had a BBC in the car for 30 years just didnt feel right for MY 67 but I used them in other projects

Nice ride! My 69 RS/SS needs something like this. The 454 is good but I always want more. Looking at the stroker LS427!

Time was, we would have called this “Sano”, as in sanitary, meaning clean! Subtle touches are outstanding and that engine looks like it grew there. 👍

I'm going to disagree that this motor is out of steam at mid 5000's. Max recommended rpm per gm is 6400 not 6200! I put this motor in a 67 SS 427 and I could not believed it pulled like a freight train past 6200 with my ignition system and my 850 carb! In a Camaro which is about 600 to 700lbs lighter, it will suprise you!
