I see you paraphrased the description of the Vaegir Marksman from the wiki. While I don't have a problem with it, I disagree with what the wiki has to say about them. The wiki asserts that the Vaegir Marksman is in direct competition with the Rhodok Sharpshooter and possesses lower damage per second. The truth is much different. Due to the way Power Draw and Proficiency mechanics work, the Vaegir Marksman does about 47p base damage total with the War Bow, which has a speed rating of 84. The Rhodok Sharp Siege Crossbow does 65p damage with a speed rating of 37; Crossbows do not benefit in damage from proficiency, unlike Bows. That's a 227% difference in speed rating, meaning a Vaegir Marksman can fire roughly 2.2 times for each time a Rhodok Sharpshooter fires--and that's not including the difference in acquisition time that naturally occurs from the difference in reloading a bow versus a crossbow. Thus a Vaegir Marksman will do about 103.4 potential damage (assuming all shots hit) while the Sharpshooter will only have done 65 or so. Rhodok Sharps do hit like a truck and have the best crossbow in the game, but it's important to remembers that while Sharps are skilled with the Crossbow, they also have 4 power strike and a great shield, and really they perform a completely different role. Sharps are hybrid ranged/melee characters and are quite good at it; to not use them that way is to waste their potential. By comparison, the Vaegir Marksman is far and away the best archer in all of vanilla M&B, and they are the primary selling point of the Vaegirs.

One thing I like about them is you can combine their army with another troops. Like Khergits and Nords. Even when I play for Nords I allways have few of marksmans and some infantry, because they have spears. Nords+Vaegirs combo looks good and is great on battlefield.

I started my first game in the original M&B in Vaegir and got fond of them ever since. They're truly Jack of all trade and master of none. Except for the Marksman, that thing is a beast.

I’m currently in a Vaegir playthrough, and I love the units. Even tho the sellin’ point for them is their archers, I find the Vaegir guards to be devasting in battles. We’ve conquered all of the Khanate which isn’t a real challenge but still. Just yesterday I thought I was done for.. Wanted to take the last castle from the Khanate, they rode out to meet me.. I had 74 troops.. all of em’ tier 5 or 4.. against their 349 troops, I won.. and only lost 11 men. That’s the Vaegir way.

The most relaxing faction to fight against for me are the Nords i just go with my cavalry in the back of their infantry then call the marksmen to "fire at will" never let them waste their arrows on nords shields after that just call for your infantry to charge when they are close enough and that's the fight i don't really lose anyone,even if their archers are still alive i can flank them later.It's not about the stats in general but the battle plan you use against each faction keep in mind that you have the control of everything.Just use the faction that you mostly like and destroy asses with it. everything from Nords,Rhodoks,Swadians,Vaegirs,SandBois and OnlyHorseBoys are good in this game if you are a good commander

This is where I must correct you, friend. In the m&b warband manuel if I remember correctly (it might be from somewhere else too,though) it says that vaegirs tactics involve in spreading the battle from phalanx positions to unorganized individual fights around the battlefield. From your video alone there are merits which can be seen in doing this. However, the vaegir knights and also guards have a slight edge when it comes the way their AI functions over other guys because they actually try to spread the enemy out and disrupt their formations. The enemy AI generally speaking can't hold the line for long because of the way Vaegirs approach them. When the positioning of the enemy group is disrupted. I would dare to say that Vaegirs are the dominant force in all of Calradia. Sure, they have problems when confronting large clumped up groups of huscarls, but seeing the Vaegir knights to actually swirl around that huscarl group and thus dissolving into individual units like how a sugar cube gets dissolved in tea, you know those huscarls won't be long.

i remember doing some epic battles as a vagier vassal abusing the charge bonus by cycle charging larger forced as a reinforcement brigade

Good job 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. My favourite troop is a toss between Vaegir knight and nord Huscarl.

Use the follow me command and then the spread out command a couple time and come through the enemy lines over and over. This is the way to use vaegir knights.

Just an add-on. Vaegirs excel on hit and run charges. Since they can get in and get out fast. Using the speed of marksman as poking strike and then sending a good wall of guards can offset any tide to your favor. Just be wary that you also need to allow troop aggro on you (on melee) so your squad can finish them up. Also engage as much a possible on a semi flat terrain, since vaegir knights got good speed to engage and disengage to maximize your cavs strength. Vaegirs is a good faction, you just need to observe the battlefield and you'll win engagement easily.

I started off in the Kingdom of the Vaegirs, and what you say about an abundance of villages and recruits is totally correct. I started off quickly building up an army of over 20 people, most of which were Vaegirs. Problem is, I didn't upgrade them enough, so they eventually got defeated by raiders. I built another army, this time again with many Vaegirs, but again did not upgrade them enough, so they got annihilated in a siege. Now I'm alone and I'm grinding in training fields with Swadians lol.

I remember once, i told the knights to use blunt weapons, most of them just punched the enemies with their fists, I didnt know how to command it back, so the knights died, we were fighting taiga bandits.

I’ve been playing alot of Vegirs recently, and I find that their infantry’s strength is in that they can effectively fight fairly dense troops in relatively thin lines. Once you get to guard tier, you are penalized more than benefited by fighting in dense formation due to the wide are of bardiche swings. In addition, The vegirs are in an awkward position where they are vulnerable to archers, but I find that even facing armies like the rhodoks who use large quantities of strong Crossbows, you tend to have plenty of options for protecting yourself from archer fire outside of Shields, Either by widening your stance and biding until you can spread your formation in such a way that you can pin AI in the map corner, or by using hills to protect Guards from archers until your cavalry and Archers Waste the enemy’s ammunition, or provoke a charge.

You should do a mount and blade mythbusters, test stuff out like, can a horse climb a ladder or other myths...

You should also consider the places and neighboring factions in all of these overviews

I feel like there is something missing when movie starts

If you playing vaegirs your most likely going to be using cavalry in the field so I like to keep whatever Infantry I have near my archers just to give them extra protection usually I have my troops line up while the enemy is pushing and I’m on high ground preferably and wait for my archers to weaken them with arrows and once they get close enough I charge my knights out and let them clean up

I like to put my Calvary behind everyone then when they get close run them into the incoming troops keeping them away from my marksmen. Also isn't is nice when you have only guards marksmen and knights in your army. Just looks so nice.

their probably the most well rounded yet polarizing faction, the veiger infantry is really good in low tiers due to them having nomad armor, the cavalry is also very good the veiger knights being a lite version of the mamelukes and knights, the archers are often cited with pride by veiger fanboys are the best in the game which they are in pure numbers but they don't great versatility tbh imo I like Nord archers better partially due to the fact that they can hold their own with many 2nd - 3ed tier infantry from other factions and as far as being pure archers is concerned they kick ass in that too, the worst part about the veigers seems to be the fact that their a jack of all trades master of none. The serranids have the mamelukes, the swadians the knights, nords infantry, rhodoks defense, kerghits horses, veigers have.... marksmen? also its worth mentioning the fact that the veiger guards are fuckin beasts but soak up damage like sponges becuz they don't carry shields however them having good 2 handed weapons and armor means in open battle they can one hit most units up to 4th tier. So in conclusion a good well rounded faction but they have their weaknesses in many areas

i still play this game but i run with 70 khergit lancers and they normally wipe everything out with no casualties but thats only on regular battles, i wouldn’t recommend bringing your lancers to a siege ive seen far too many good armies get destroyed by archers in a siege its quite sad.

The Vaegirs are my preferred faction as their archers are superb at range and can hold the line well with their two handed axes enabling them to stand up to cavalry however they are outclassed by Nord infantry their cavalry is highly maneuverable while being faster than Swadian knight and also more durable than than Khergits their infantry isn't anything to write home about you probably won't use them as much while you will mostly employ their cavalry and archers you may want to supplement your army with infantry from another faction my preferred infantry are Nords as they carry large shields and one handed axes which give them great defense and a decent attack speed while also being able to power through enemy defenses while the crossbow is a deadly weapon I prefer to use them as a supplement to my archers

Vaegir is my favorite kingdom cause who NEEDS defense when you have a good offense.

The reason I choose rhodok sharps over vaegir marksmen is that sharps can pierce shields and other heavy armors. When you think about it, almost every faction has either heavy armored men or heavy shielded men. I've been playing this game so many years, I've played different mods so many times (diplomacy is my favourite) and I can tell you that sharps will be more useful in the battlefield. But let's say you besieged reyvadin. Marksmen will butcher sharps because the range is short and marksmen use bows which means they are faster. This can be dodged by commanding your army etc. Imo, rhodok sharps are the best overall. Moreover, if you played diplomacy 4 litdum, you can command your archers to volley fire ( they basically fire all together and I think it's a little bit more accurate than normal skirmishing) and destroy the whole Nord infantry shieldwall. If I play rhodoks, I usually get 90-100 sharps (they can do quite well against swadia charge as well), split the troops (if you have 100 archers you can split them by 50-50 and can command them differently), command first archer group to stand in front and crouch (the reason I make them crouch is that archers behind them won't shoot if theres someone in front of them). So imagine 80 crossbows shot at the same time, shorter the range, more casualties per shot and you literally don't get any casualties against nords.

Swadia master Faction

No mention of how little gold and experience points it takes to level up to Vaegir guards and knights?? This makes them easier to amass and replace than all other top tier troops. Just compare how much time and gold it takes you to train a party of Vaegir knights and a party of Swadian knights/Sarranid mamlukes, or a party of Vaegir guards and a party of Nord huscarls/Rhodok sergeants. Vaegirs' advantage is in their numbers.

I love the Vaegir's character design but their troops during sieges are absolutely useless as they lack shields thus have no protection from AI spammed sharpshooters/crossbows and get rekt & held back on the walls by shield using enemy troops, all while being peppered from left & right by missiles There's just no room for argument to use them when there are more reliable & versatile troops like Huscarls

Would anyone recommend either Rhodoks or swadians

Vaegir knights are great, but I would disagree with that they can beat Khergits easily. Steppe chargers are slower than coursers and all that is over battlefield are Vaegir knights desperately chasing horse archers. Although, they can be a great distraction and marksmen would do the job, with them being able to hit a Khergit bitch riding a courser in full speed to head from the other half of the battlefield. Guards are good pretty much only at putting down Lancers.
