I think Warhammer 40K does an interesting take on the Elves. They single-handedly caused most of the problems of the modern 40K setting, and they collapsed their own civilization, but they're too smug and arrogant to realize their MASSIVE screw up, and they're certainly too smug and arrogant to change their ways. As a result, they drift into ever more obscurity.

This is probably a bad time to say that 1.) The Wood Elves are going to be the next DLC 2.) You could've brought some guns to those pointy eared leaf lovers 3.) If you wanted flames, You could've played as the Dwarves. Belegar starts in a pretty good position to do this but you would have other issues to deal with first unfortunately.

I think a much more interesting "eternal race" are the Varl from the Banner Saga series. They're huge horned guys who were all created by a now-dead god, so there will never be any more of them. They're not quite immortal, but they live for hundreds/thousands of years and so the Varl characters' deaths hit harder.

I'm doing a Gelt playthrough at the moment! I went east and smashed the Vampires, I'm now chasing them North through the ruins of Kislev. Rikeland, Middenheim have confederated with me, I killed Wissenland and conquered their territory. Currently Hockland are super Chads and have expanded in every direction which was a pleasant suprise

Dont hold the walls on a fort battle. You can literally win this by using the choke points of the second line of defense. All you need is a few melee and then a huge blob of enemies will form. Then you rain down bolts and bullets with constant mortar fire and you can stop almost Everything they throw at you.
