My husband of 12 years laughed so hard I wished I had recorded it. He has the best laugh, it’s one of the reasons I fell in love with him. I don’t hear it too often these days. Our marriage is good, like yours, but has some city miles on it. Our daughter died of cancer nearly three years ago. Her birthday was this week, she would have been 8. We get by with a little laughter here and there. Thank you.

Married, age 55+ edition: "Happy Valentines Day. We had to purchase a new dishwasher to the tune of $700 and pay $1500 to the vet for our pet's bloodwork and X-rays last month, so why don't we just watch TV and I'll make you some grilled pork chops, mac 'n cheese from the box (the kind you like and grew up on), a veggie that I won't force you to try, and we'll call it a holiday? You can dig through the storage boxes in the basement and find the card you gave me last year (the laminated one), and give that to me again, and I'll pretend it's new, because flowers, cards, chocolate and dinners at restaurants have gotten too expensive, and I can make a better chocolate lava cake at home. Deal?"

100% accurate! Lol. Thanks for the laugh. I have to say i really don't miss the awkward dating scene. As chaotic as life with kids can be, having a committed partner through it all is very comforting and rewarding.

This was hilarious! I would love to see all the young dating couples seeing you do the hemorrhoid checks who would say that they would never do that, and then 20 years later, they're doing the hemorrhoid check. But seriously, isn't taking care of each other all part of it?
