That's how my 180 year old house works. Oh you have to do the foundation? Well the duct work needs to be moved but while we're moving that we might as well replace it. Oh the old duct work wasn't to code because the floor joists are 3 inches above the dirt. Well have to dig out trenches in the crawl space for the new stuff. Oh the electrical is in the way of the new ducts? We'll have to move that but we might as well upgrade it while we're at it. Oh the plumbing is in the way of the new electrical? We'll have to reroute that as well...... 2 years later and the foundation isn't done. Meanwhile we may have to remove an old chimney that is in the kitchen as well to help take some weight off the floor and to expand a door way so a wheelchair can fit through it easier. Yep just your typical easy short home renovation job in a old home. Lol

This is essentially my process of renovating my house. I start one thing, then I have to fix something else in order to finish the thing I was working on, but I keep finding more and more things to fix and the first thing I started ends up being that last thing I can finish.

I love it! When I was a kid, my parents were CONSTANTLY remodelling and adding on to our house. I thought it was just normal to live with sawdust LOL. But seriously, they over doubled the square footage of their house from when I was a kid... and I always thought it was SO COOL, and I learned a lot just from watching them design and build things. You get a home you love, in a location you love, and your kids get a cool experience & even cooler house!! All sounds WAY better than moving to me! :) Good luck with everything!

My dads a builder and pretty much built a shed in a tree for me, we used one of these for the slide however since it was so high in the air it basically slammed you right into the ground. Was only ever slid down one time lol

Most don't know that if you build anything on your property or change your house in any way you have to be "up to code" and get permits for it. If the code department finds out you have turned your garage into a bedroom for example, years later they can fine you thousands of dollars a day until you get the permit, and they'll force you to tear it down and put your own house back the way it was originally.
