Major tip to save your sanity... turn off any quests you're not actively working on. Then you can follow the markers to easily find where you need to be. You can turn on the quests again when you're ready to do them. :D

@JaWoodle - Josh, PLEASE build some storage containers to use at Sanctuary. You are putting everything into the workbenches, and that means they will SCRAP whatever is next for the resources to craft stuff. That includes the weapons and armor and the rest. You are going to lose a bunch of useful stuff and not know where it went. Oh, who am I kidding. You can't even pay attention enough to what NPCs are telling you in a quest cutscene (Memory Den is in Goodneighbor)......you'll never even realize what might have gotten scrapped.

This is a good strat. I always make a handful of extra boxes; one for settler armor, one for guns im not ready to sell, one for purely sellable stuff, etc. Sanctuary has the room, build moar boxes!

I usually have a dozen containers (of different types, lockers for armor, chests for weapons, metal crates for unused ammo, drawers for clothing, etc.) I usually keep MY stuff in a home I build from scratch, and keep the rest near the crafting stations. Of course, I mod my game and have LOTS of variety for containers and furniture. I can also re-build the original houses in Sanctuary back to their Pre-War condition which makes them a bit nicer.......especially since the settlers there are constantly doing "work" on repairs when I'm there its nice to make it actually have an effect!

You can buy a house in diamond city for 2000 caps in tye mayor's office if you haven't already. It comes with it's own fast travel location.

That cow thing is a Brahmin, if they have boxes on their back its a traders pack animal. If no boxes, usually a farm animal. It Goes way back in fallout, even though you would think with sentry bots, protections, airships, power armor etc, the traders would have figured out better vehicles to move gear.

Josh, equip the brother hood power armor parts build the suit back at base then tell piper to get in. She can rock with power armor as well.

JOSH. All companions have affinity. They give a bonus after you complete there side quest. Nick and Hancock are two of the best in my opinion. Shhhh, the railroad is watching.

Join the brotherhood and all factions you come across, you don't have to do missions for them but you can work with all of them up to a certain point with no repercussions

The combat rifle with .308 receiver was my favorite!

I like the calibrated powerful receiver better. .308 ammo is expensive and difficult to come by. .45 ammo is readily available. A weapon merchant will be lucky to have 40 .308 rounds on them for 8 caps each. A weapons merchant will have 200+ .45 ammo at 2 caps each. Combat Rifle is one of the best weapons in game, which gets replaced by almost identical but improved versions introduced in the DLCs. The Radium Rifle is basically a combat rifle with radiation damage tacked on for free. The Handmade Rifle from Nuka World DLC is the same idea but with an ammo type unique to Nuka World so its difficult to use because if its your main gun you'll run out of ammo real quick.

You can join the brotherhood and backstab 'em later if you want. They are 1 of several paths to the end game missions.

You need Valentine to be with you as he gives out the best roast and he can hack computers. Danse is a companion and he has the best carry weight.

Hey Josh. There was a glitch in fallout 4, where you can drop a weapon on the ground and tell your companion to pick it up. If you do it this way they will pick it up and carry it even if it says that theyre inventory is full. It maybe also work for items. Keep it up your muppet!

You can build up the houses in Sanctuary, even scrap some completely and build better. Can build merchant stalls to assign people to work. Be sure people have jobs at your settlements.

I love the Brotherhood in this game. between them and the minutemen it always feels like I got backup. Also if you choose a faction you aren't locked in until basically the end of the game. For next episode you gotta travel with nick for a bit. he's great.

You can join all the factions even ones you don't like. You can get some special gear through some of the jobs factions give you but you can always not finish their final jobs. You can absolutely ignore the factions but you miss out on a lotta story and perspectives.

It should be noted that as you progress through the main questline, you will eventually be forced to choose which faction to support. The Minutemen are independent, and you can continue to work with them regardless, but the other factions you have to pick (unless you get a mod that lets you not choose) one.....and the others become hostile.

@@heliumphoenix I think there actually is a way to have peace (mostly) among all the factions. If you do certain missions in the right order, you can convince the brotherhood and railroad to ignore each other. I think this requires you to use the minutemen to destroy the institute before advancing to a certain stage in the railroad and brotherhood storylines. It might also require you to not complete certain quest objectives. I don't remember the specifics. It's been a hot minute since I played FO4.

@@timostipow3751 - Not without mods. At the "Battle of Bunker Hill" you pretty much HAVE to choose whether or not to side with the Brotherhood, the Railroad, or neither. You cannot pick both. And with the Institute, if you choose them, both the Brotherhood and the Railroad will consider you an enemy. Only the Minutemen don't care either way. The only way to not pick one of the three factions is to not complete the main story quest of the game.

@@heliumphoenix Pretty sure I was able to do exactly what I described without mods. If you do it right, when the battle of bunker hill starts, both factions are yellow (neutral) to you. At least, that's how it went down when I did it. I believe you have to choose the stealth option when talking to the railroad. But like I said, it's been a hot minute since I played.

@@timostipow3751 - According to the Fallout Wiki, after Act Three of the main storyline in FO4, you get all four of the main faction questline starting quests. However, in each questline, there are quests that WILL make you the enemy of the other factions. For the Brotherhood, the quest "Tactical Thinking" will force you to become the enemy of the Railroad. The quest "The Nuclear Option" makes you the enemy of The Institute. For the Railroad, the quest "Rockets Red Glare" will force you to become an enemy of the Brotherhood. The quest "The Nuclear Option" makes you the enemy of The Institute. For The Institute, the quest "End of the Line" will force you to become enemies with the Railroad. The next quest "Airship Down" makes you an enemy of the Brotherhood. For the Minutemen, the quest "The Nuclear Option" will force you to become enemies with the Institute. You CANNOT progress to the end of the main story without choosing ONE of the major 3 factions and making the other two into enemies. While it is possible to exploit bugs to sometimes still have certain NPCs remain unhostile and give out radiant quests (there's one for PAM, for example) the rest of the faction will still be hostile. The ONLY way to have a "peaceful" ending between the three is with mods.

The Brotherhood vertibirds are simply randomly doing patrols from the air, and if they see enemies they start shooting them and sometimes drop ppl in full power armor. Also the mission with Paladin Danse is there for you, if you want to join the brotherhood of Steel. you do not have to join them (Personally I hate their morals so I never join them anymore I prefer to shoot them) If you want power armor frames you can shoot the Cores until it is destroyed and the soldier inside will get out of the power armor. so you can add a new core and give it to your followers.

Vertibirds show up with some soldiers inside and a pilot. When the Vertibird finds some enemies it will move close to them and the soldiers will jump down to fight. The Vertibird itself will fly around and take pot shots with a mini-gun. It is very very common for Vertibirds to damage themselves by running into things. Eventually some enemy will shoot the Vertibird down, or it will crash on its own. When it crashes, there will be a dead pilot somewhere. The corpse can fly quite far away from the wreckage thanks to explosions. If you see a Vertibird come towards you just follow until the patrol jumps out. Often the patrol will take on enough things to kill them. Or they win, free loot either way.

Joining Broderhood is not mandatory, but without joining them this is as much as you'll get from them. Your current quest wants you to join them. If you don't want to, stop tracking it. Although i personally liked their questline. And it leads to one of the endings. For your aluminium struggles, and possibly other material shortages - build radio towers in every settlement and bunch of scavenging stations, not sure if thats exact name, so they will draw in new settlers who you can employ to gather materials for you when you're out exploring. It may be tedious to manage materials between differnt settlements, but laters you can unlock perk to share inventory among all settlement at once. Very useful. And look out for plasma weapons - my plasma sniper rifle was the god's hammer!

Josh, you are not a member of the Brotherhood. It seemed pretty normal to me when they said military only and gave you the cold shoulder. Join a faction and see the change. You can get Piper to wear power armor if you want her to. Robot Army is available in DLC... Please, please, eventually play the DLCs. Some are tough, though, so wait a bit. You can hack turrets and bots...

You can join ALL the factions up until a certain quest where they ALL want the object from it, THEN you have to commit. But you can put it off ass long as you wish to do so in order to finish everything else in the game.

@@pbsixgun6 It's also worth noting that when landing after falling in power armor, you deal damage to things nearby. Can't tell you how many times I landed near a friendly NPC, only for them to go hostile on me for damaging them.

Josh, haven't you figured out by now that the Danse quest/mission is just for you to join the brotherhood. If you don't want to join the Brotherhood, don't go back to that quest/mission. Don't highlight it anymore

The sheer irony of JaWoodle ranting about Piper & Valentine judging him, while simultaneously refusing to compromise HIS right to be a murdering psychopath. I'm sure such irony is lost on him, though. It's not as though Piper hasn't made it clear she's a kind, compassionate and caring woman. Her constant dialogue makes that abundantly clear. Sure, she likes getting into places she isn't supposed to be, and looking at stuff she isn't supposed to see.....that's curiosity. But she's not a megalomaniacal serial killer psychopath.....too much 7D2D has turned Josh into one. There's a difference between wanting Justice, and just wanting Revenge. Piper is more about the former, but Josh seems to prefer the latter.

You can absolutely get a robot army. Once you reached level 15 and you have, And as long as you have the DLC's for this which I'm assuming you do. Search your radio signals for distress call and follow it. Also you did the right thing shooting the robots they're Programs are glitched when you turn the computer on they'll see anything as an enemy except other robots. Also the whole Brotherhood thing. Once they show up in the Commonwealth it turns into a war zone. If you join the brotherhood they'll respect you . Don't worry though you'll still be free to join other factions at the same time. And you can leave them at any time.

So little peek behind the curtain. Following the main quest you'll be given reasons to join every major faction in the Commonwealth because you need some kind of help from each faction to progress the main quest. The only one you can skip is the Minutemen (ironically). After you progress the main quest far enough each faction will want you to betray one or more of the other factions to make sure you're loyal to that faction before you get to the end game. You don't need to join Danse and the Brotherhood now, but eventually the main story will tell you to do it. You can burn your bridges before that, but it takes some real effort to actually manage that.

The blimp belongs to the brotherhood and if you don't join them, for all practical purposes, it does not exist. The aircraft also belong to the brotherhood. The brotherhood soldiers will not interact with you until you join. If you have played Skyrim, they are a faction. You cannot proceed through the faction quests without joining. Joining is optional and not doing the quest will not impact the main quest.

You can join all the factions and do their quests, however you will finally have to commit to one and only one at the end. Game warns you when your about to make a final decision. Happy hunting!

You forgot the wattz laser pistel it does 40 damage.and there are even better power armor out there+a laser rifle that you don't need to reload and will never run out of ammo but if you want all of that you have to join the brotherhood

There is a point of no return for all the factions the game wars you about it. You can play a new play through without restarting the whole game. You only need to make a secondary save and write it down so you won't delete it.

You don't HAVE to join any faction in particular in order to complete the main storyline, but if you want to advance the storyline OF a particular faction, you'll have to join. And in order to actually advance the main storyline, you will need the help of one of the factions. You're already a part of the minutemen, so the game will default to them if you don't join any others. That said, every faction has their own storyline, perks, special locations, and companions. If you want to get the most out of just one playthrough, I'd recommend joining all the factions. There aren't really any reasons not to, and at different points, their stories overlap and it makes for some really powerful decision making and gameplay elements. I'm trying not to spoil any story beats for you, but I also look forward to seeing you experience certain missions, and if you skip entire faction storylines, you may not get the full picture.

You don't want to work for the BoS but you wanna help em. They will pay you with 'stuff' if you join em, but either way, its not permanent. You can join every faction at once until certain points, you have time to decide who you like/dislike.

Vertabirds are good at crashing. There will now be Major faction patrols. Including the Brotherhood. Brotherhood feel that all tech should be theirs outsiders are peasants

I think the 'squad leader' of those 4 was the one that got killed and the rest have no independent coding to hunt down more bad guys....lol You ummm...also want to be wary around vertibirds in combat, if they get shot down they have a 'disturbing' tendency to try and land ON YOU to explode (it's from the dragon coding in skyrim, for 'reasons' Bugthesda left it applied to the flying entities.)

there's been. an update for free enclave xo-1 power armor(black devil quests) sooo much better than the t series armor and i got it EARLY game. think i was level 6 ot 7. well worth the short quests.

You can't finish the game if you do NOT do it as a part of a faction. Minutemen, Brotherhood, Railroad, or the Institute all have ways to complete it depending on which one you actually like most. Years ago when I was playing this game, I finished it three different ways. One faction I could not bring myself to play. You may even need to, I don't know, maybe pretend to be part of a faction when you really want to destroy that faction.

Boyo, you really need to pay attention to map markers for quests. Turn off all but the one you're working on at the moment, and refer back to your map frequently. Also, all companions have likes/dislikes. Piper and Nick don't like the violent responses. If you want to romance her, you're gonna have to play nice.

There is one follower you have not met yet. She likes you the more you walk around naked. You can get to 100% just by standing in game without clothing while making a meal irl.

If you say you will join the brotherhood of steel, you are Not locked into only them. It's more like a job trial with probation period, you can just stop doing stuff for them any time and go work elsewhere

Its almost like you murder any relationship the moment you start talking, nearly as quickly as you were murdering innocent NPCs😹 [I have never played Fallout, but unlike (cough) some, I pay attention.] Build storage for things you want to keep and FFS stop storing kit in the workbench at the settlement, or it will get scrapped, scrap some of the local ruined shit, so the locals have materials to work with. It looks like you will get no new settlers unless you have surplus food, water and fekken beds (duh) There is a skill thing called settlement builder you really ought to look at, instead of sticking to gun bunny bollocks. If you have scrapper, couldn't you just have scrapped the robots for parts and shit?
