It absolutely breaks my heart to hear that you were punished by being beaten. I was beaten too growing up by my caregiver, along with severe emotional abuse. I've focused heavily over the past 8 years (I left home at 20 and I'm now 28) towards healing, but much of the time it seems futile...like no amount of mindset/action on my part can overcome the damage. I understand suicide is not the answer but it is on my mind every day.
