Join Ruby Ochoa of Trace Analytics, the compressed air testing laboratory, as she explains how to avoid pitfalls in testing for validations or qualifications.
In this video, we cover validations and qualifications of compressed air systems. This could include a new line, a new compressor, or new usage.
1. Set up a schedule - you must make sure your lab rushes the reports of the first samples.
- This is in case samples fail so adjustments must be made before sampling continues.
2. The distributor needs to write a protocol for the customer
- List out sampling points, schedule days for taking the samples
- Always order extra media
3. Sampling Times: get spec, evaluate whether or not we can help.
4. Talk about hydrocarbons - how do these need to be reported?
- some validations require breathing air specs.
5. Talk about Particles
- Offer the LPC (immediate and onsite results) - Setra or AeroTrak
6. Find out their water limits (DT might not be appropriate).
- DTs have a 30% accuracy.
- Take the time to discuss dew-point monitors which are more sensitive and offer immediate results
7. Understand the required paperwork.
- The summary layout or one data sheet per sample point?
- We have custom options available
- Custom data sheets (oil only or gas only) are available
8. Sampling Tips
- how to use the bottle holder/needles
- taking water samples: you must stay and watch DTs
- Charcoal tube arrow must point up
