We loved the Valley of the kings!
Our travel style is to wander and enjoy on our own timeline. We don't mind having to research a bit instead of having someone show us around. Saving money by being our own tour guides allows for more travel adventures! Does that sound like you? Great! This video will show you all you need to know to have a great trip.

Here are the costs as of April 2023 for an adult
Valley entrance : 200 egp this allows for you to pick any 3 of the 18 tombs they open, but be aware they never open them all at once so your choices may be limited depending on time of year and other archeological work going on. the following are additional costs
Tomb of Ay: 60 egp
Tomb of Seti: 1000 egp
Tomb of Tutankhamun: 300 Egp
Tomb of Ramses 5 & 6 :100 egp
Trolley ride round trip : 10 Egp
Drinks and snacks are available inside, but you can bring your own and water on the street cost about 9 cents vs 2 dollars inside the complex.
WC personal will require a "tip" to use the facilities
toilet paper may or may not be available with that tip and we highly recommend packing sanitizer.
Wear closed toed shoes as you will be walking in dirt and rock on very uneven ground and down steep stairways into the tombs.

Great video. I’m taking my son in May and trying to decide if we could plan out our trip instead of using a tour company?? I think that I can get around Cairo with Uber but how do you travel around Luxor to the Valley of the kings and different sites? Thank you

I luxor we have a great guy that can set up all of your transportation. He is amazing. He's on instagram as omar_crocodiel he's honest and is as good a person as I've ever met.

a couple tips for uber: never let them cancel and ask for cash, always check the fare after. one guy tried to burn us.

Last questions, how often are you able to use credit card like at hotels and did you guys use Egyptian money of other currencies?

If you go to see the tombs yourself, then there will be no one to explain the meaning of the images that are incomprehensible to you. A bird is an image of a soul, each of the events of the soul's rebirth in heaven takes place in a certain constellation. The rebirth begins in the constellation of Leo, the conception of the heavenly body takes place there, the rebirth in the constellations of Aries and Taurus ends, another important event takes place in the constellation of the Dog, therefore images of birds, lions, rams, cows and dogs are often found in tombs.

we look all of this up before and after. many tour guides have no idea what they are talking and often flat lie.

@@teepsfam Totally agreed. I have never used a guide anywhere in the world. A guided tour especially in Egypt that has tons of things to see can cost you double the money. Average price for a Greek travelling agency is 1.700$ for a 10 day trip when the average salary is 750$ per month. I managed to do everything in Egypt except of the cruise but still visited most of the temples for 800$ all expenses included.
