Valley Railroad - Essex Steam Train in Connecticut

Valley Railroad, also known as the Essex Steam Train, operates steam powered excursions out of their depot located in Essex, Connecticut. The regularly scheduled excursions operate over former New Haven Railroad trackage, and are generally powered by one of the railroads two Mikado type steam locomotives; 40, and 3025. Both Mikados haul passengers over the beautiful Valley Railroad's route, which parallels the Connecticut River.

My cell site when I was at at@t was under the water tower… I’d post up with my lunch outside the door and watch the train go by… such a vibe and that long whistleee pull gives me goosebumps.. such an incredible piece of engineering anddd it’s a 80s Chinese engine.. the cars are all Pullman but the engine isn’t lol

MAROMAS (in Middletown) is the Valley's last station. Then the track becomes P&W.

Technically they run a dinner train most days that the tourist train does. For two steam engines, it's been happening for weekends in October, as well as the North Pole Express.

Yes, this engine was formerly the Knox & Kane's 58.

I used to ride that when I was a kid. Im so glad it got restored from the fire and still running. Kind of curious how much was it bought for and how much to get her back in working order?
