In this episode of the steam engine build I make the studs to get the main components of the cylinders bolted together. Using the Harrison lathe I machine some studs then using the Bridgeport I then put the steam inlet port in the valve chest. Sometimes you have to make a lot of little parts to get the big parts together.

That's it I've caught up. Next one please. You have certainly done a super job on those cylinders. I can't wait to see them fitted on the chassis. Many thanks Matt for yet another wonderful vlog. - Fletch -

Hi Matt. Great to see the ‘power’ bits assembled. Nice, neat work on the studs too 👍 For deburring and ‘finishing’ stud ends, I use an ‘external’ chamfer bit ( internal cone with 3 or 4 carbide cutters. Saves chucking them all up. Also, I’ve seen visible studs slightly ‘domed’ to add some extra ‘bling’. Regards Robert

Thanks Robert, much appreciated. Good shout on chamfer tool, thanks. Domed studs??! life is to short for that 😂😂 especially when you may not see them. All the best, Matt 👍

Hiya Matt. Brilliant to see your latest video where you rub salt into the wounds of those who's build has stalled! If you ever get down to sunny Somerset, remind me to give you a Coventry Die Head and a selection of cutters. Will make your life much easier. You will need to make an adaptor to allow you to mount it off your cross slide. In steam by Christmas then!🤓
