I just got a quote for $900 for a 2016 Outlander V6, manual calls for every 30,000 miles but at 80,000 miles the car runs fine and haven't done it yet, I guess I'll just skip it if it's just preventative

Thank you for your comment my friend. These mitsubishi's are built to take a lot of abuse and they will look after you. You can judge the clearance by sound when you hear the clattering noise it's time to get them done. I've always gone by the rule prevention is better than cure. If your keeping the car long-term then put the effort in and it'll pay you back in not letting you down. $900 seems like a lot just for the clearance check? 🤔 But you do you my friend if money is best spent elsewhere go for it. All the best with your motoring experience take care my friend

I just spotted the footnote in the manual which says you only need to adjust the valve clearance if it is making strange noises, which makes more sense but it's hard to notice the footnotes. It also specifies different intervals for different engines but you can't find the engine in your vehicle without going into the specifications as it uses the same schedule for the entire car line.

@@arthurhu2290 hello my friend. Yes alot of manufacturers including mitsubishi say there cars can do more miles between services. In my workshop manual for my car. 2.4 diesel mitsubishi shogun sport. it says for the value clearance a audio check every year. But every 4th year a physical visual check is required. Watch this video on you tube Auto expert John cadogan The engine valve clearance adjustment problem. This guy explains really well why it is important and why it goes overlooked by many people. And regarding the manufacturer manual you do have to use your own common sense because unfortunately this day and age they don't make cars last forever. Other wise we wouldn't have sealed transmission and locked out modules that you need a high end scam tool to get into. Lol. But watch that video and decide what you want to do my friend. All the best 👍
