The story should have based on Lucian. Instead, they moved it to Selene. Lucian should be the main character. The moment tthey deviate from Lucian, the franchise collapsed.

It would've been cool if the vampires had a gatling gun that fired silver bullets really fast and don't know why they didn't have one plus they could dispatch lycans quicker

Because he didn't behead Viktor, just merely wounded him. Because Viktor was turned by Marcus, he is much stronger than your average vampire, and also heals quicker. After he got dropped in the water, he resurfaced and Tanner rescued him. Put him into a hibernation state to heal up.

When it comes to speed and strength of normal Vampires and werewolves, Werewolves are superior in both category. Actually in the underworld universe, Lycans are just the superior race because they are stronger, faster, can transform at will, immortal, can maintain sanity at transform state, not weak no sunlight, and they maintain some of their speed/strength in human state.
