I really wish they had tied the ending to how healthy each district was instead of how many people you ate. It'd make the balancing act of keeping the district's alive while you try to boost your combat strength a little more interesting.

Loved playing Vampyr! The combat isn't that great but decent enough. The story is great and loved the fact that every NPC you can embrace felt like a person. Makes you think twice before embracing someone.

I loved Vampyr. Loved the embracing mechanics, loved how it actually felt morally challenging, loved the atmosphere and tone. Especially just fell completely in love with the story and characters. However, I only played it once (pacifist run), got the good ending, and never came back to it. Reason being, the goddamn tediousness of running in circles around the city, having no fast travel, having no enemy variety (you said you sometimes fight the same enemies again, but actually you ALWAYS fight the EXACT SAME ENEMIES AT THE SAME EXACT SPOTS in each chapter). It just becomes so taxing. So yeah, if there was a mod for fast travel I would say this is one of my all time favorite games.
@romellpoellinetz7435
@romellpoellinetz7435 2 жыл бұрын
It's one of my top three the lack of fast travel never bothered me because I barely use fast travel unless it's a game like biomutant or immortals fenyx rising plus the maps not super big to where fast travel would be something I absolutely need but I'm the same person to explore a whole far cry map on foot

i got this game yesterday on xbox series x it got 60fps patch!! the game is buttery smooth with super fast loadings. so far i love the way the combat system is working which it's not just dodge and attack but the difficulty is heavily based on number of enemies. you see, you're a vampire so more enemy more blood, more blood more power so when there are fewer enemies the combat system becomes harder and harder unti 1 enemy is left and you can't heal yourself and use your vampire powers fast enough. this was such refreshing system i had experienced in a long time. i see some people complaining about fighting same enemy in same exact location but i never see you complaining this system in dark souls franchise. the game's world is exactly like soulsborn games which i really like about, if you don't familiar with this kind of mechanism so this game is not for you! some acting like souls games have different enemies each time you leave the campfire! unlike soulsborn titles the enemies in this game are unique from each other they have personality and thier own dialogue something that fromsoftware should learn from this game.

Vampyr was great (except the end, that felt rushed a little bit), but even with that it was amazing. It got me out of my "gaming fatigue" phase I had where nothing seemed exciting or engaging. I was so immersed in this game, I actually *felt* the pressure of the knowledge that if I was to rest, people could get sicker and die. I would love and recommend it to anyone, and I am really happy you are giving it a review.

I loved how they made a gameplay cost for being a good guy; usually being a good guy nets you the same gameplay cost as being bad and only a different narrative one. But this game MOS DEF has a gameplay cost for doing good as you progress through the game and wow i was re-loading saves alot near the end....especially during a certain sewer ambush... great game!

No spoilers. But outside of when I accidently made what turned out to be bad decisions with some of the pillars of the communities, I made it a rule to NEVER embrace someone who didn't deserve it. That being said, I'll never do a pacifist run of this game because, in my heart, I can't play a character who's got their heart in the right place yet allows killers, rapists and other deplorable people live. I just can't abide by it. Those type of people will ALWAYS get their just deserts when I'm given the wheel in an RPG. If ever there was a game that needed to get picked up by a AAA studio and given a Resident Evil-like remake, it's Vampyr. AAA graphical fidelity, a fleshed out combat system that focuses more on physical vampiric ability than mortal weapons and guns (and a block button would be nice), a light overhaul of the embracing mechanics, MUCH clearer wording on major choices with major characters such as Nurse Crane, a more visually in-depth weapons upgrade interface a la Metro or TLoU2, more NPC's with a more visually diverse cityscape and more districts, some quality-of-life improvements with the map interface and maybe an out of map compass of some sort so that you don't have to constantly switch back and forth in and out of gameplay... Wouldn't that be nice?

The fact that you generally can't do anything about the killers and rapists *except* drain them is part of the game's failings. The choice to either break your rule of not drinking any of the citizens or let them go about their merry way isn't much of a choice at all, especially when you've supposedly got other abilities. The game feels half-finished.

This is hands down one of the most frustrating and baffling experiences ive had in the past 5 years with a game. The priorities they had when making this game seem to me to have been pretty ass backwards from the constant frustrations of having to walk around back and forth everywhere to the really poorly explained weapon and crafting system which will 100% punish you for upgrading any early found weapons to the frustrating and pretty unrewarding experience that is a "good guy" playthrough AND to top all of that pain off at which point I went on a killing rampage to finish the game quicker they throw you a big fat middle finger by boosting the final bosses levels by the amount of people you killed making an already annoying fight annoying no matter what choices you made. I really cannot recommend this game to anyone even to the masochists who enjoy having their balls stepped on 24/7 even they would get sick of the grind this game puts you through at some point
@coldh8terade737
@coldh8terade737 2 жыл бұрын
As much as I like the concept, it's also a tad disappointing that this game doesn't FORCE you to kill any civilians. In any vampire story, there's simply no way to get around that bloodthirst. Vampyr would have benefitted so much more if it focused on mitigating the trauma you caused to the community by choosing who to sacrifice when the time comes. There's only so many bad people to hunt down.
@DiggerPat
@DiggerPat 2 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily true of vampire stories in general. Blood bags, animals, controlled methods of feeding, lots of other stories and games utilize options to help control the balance between survival and killing. Having a strict binary works solely to the game's detriment, especially when your level growth is hindered so severely by the choice not to kill. Besides which, thematically speaking it makes no sense to have such severe penalties for killing citizens when you can drink from enemies by the hundreds with no penalty. Moreover, it makes even less sense to allow hundreds or thousands of experience from a single citizen while the average human enemy gives 5-10. I'm aware that it's an attempt to balance the "quick path to power vs moral choices" dilemma but it's very poorly implemented. There's little or no incentive to defeating the dozens of trash mobs whether you embrace or not, it's a tedious slog to do so if you don't embrace, and there's very little in the way of options to avoid combat with such mobs.

I'm relieved to hear from someone who played this game to its limits that it wasn't just me... Combat ruined this game for me to the point where I just stopped playing it. After a good 5 hours in, combat slowly turned into more enormous level gaps with more unforgiving margins in clunky/inconsistent combo repeats. A torch and a pipe gun are enough to make you crumple over after running out of breath, mindless vampire drones have the most prolonged fights possible, and unless you decided to make your character nonsensical by becoming Dr. Murder that all just continues and gets worse. Hit -> enemy teleporting away -> dodge twice -> repeat. Since you didn't decide the PTSD man who killed his sister after turning would do that on the regular, you need to do that without error 50 times over the next 10 minutes any time you run into something. Such a shame. I wanted to like the game, but the combat wasn't worth grinding through so I just stopped playing entirely. I'm playing a Vampyr game with an in-depth story and an immersive torn-up world. Instead of the combat serving as a change of pace, it was a shift from role-playing as an immortal terror of the night to a man with pool noodles most of the time.
