Van Halen in their prime, hitting on all cylinders. The song sounds as great as it did on vinyl, possibly even better...Ed's guitar, DLR's voice...all crystal clear. M Anthony's bass thumpin' and harmonies clear as ever....and Alex's drums snappin' like a firecracker.

Oh, man, do I ever wish every American kid had the chance to fall in love with a band this insanely talented and entertaining. Great artists will come and go, but the original VH was a once-in-a-lifetime collection of talent.
@ms.lisamurphy269 Жыл бұрын
So well said. I absolutely agree ..this was the genesis and iconic Van Halen...when this band fractured, it was the end. Yes ..VH going further more mainstream success with Sammy, but to the fans of those first 4 records? The new VH was a completely different type of band. DLR and Edward were the Lennon and McCartney of this genre of rock. Dave's personality literally spills off the records. His gritty dirty delivery, those brilliant ad libs.."one break ..coming uuuuuup'...genius. And EVH ..he just seemed more inspired working with Dave. I'm glad that DLR and Al and Ed ultimately did drift sweetly back together...and a friendship survived. To bad Micheal Anthony was somewhat...ok alot ostracized..but I totally understand EVH wanting to have his son on stage. I'm glad he didn't wait till he was older, because it may not have happened at all. Peace 🕊️🕊️

Well, selling more albums or records doesn't mean shit even if you are right. look at people like drake or cardi b. sells tons of records and they are complete dogshit. AC/DC is a great rock n roll band, but its simple and easy to get into and they had the same formula for their whole career that worked but wasn't interesting. Van Halen was the better band, they were innovators and showed you how it's done and blew everyone away. Van Halen changed the formula and the music scene, AC/DC was just another band that sold records. That is also facts. I think Powerage is AC/DC's best album but it's not commercialized like back in black. Van Halen wasn't a commercialized band until they released 1984. Then when sammy joined the band they hit number 1 on billboard everytime even when sammy's songs are not as good as when Roth were in VH.

I was an intern for MTV, in the studio (Unitel Studios, where the VJs and Director of On-Air Talent worked out of), in 1987. No pay but the best perk was dubbing all the videos you wanted from MTV's vast archive. I remember recording this video (among many), still with time stamp, on a VHS tape and taking it back to college. Then I watched it with some friends and couldn't believe what I was seeing: the perfect Van Halen moment -- one that I hadn't seen live on MTV. They are fighting trim, ferocious and hungry, in perfect synchronicity. The power and the glory. So glad this is available on KZfaq whenever I need a dose of adrenaline and dopamine.

I feel bad for your generation b/c the music of your generation just sucked. When we were young listening to this, and this sound was all new, all we heard was people from the 60's telling us how bad it sucked. Jimi Hendrix, led zep. They had a point, I love that music, too. But today? It just gets worse...

The concert was so awesome even the African American security guards were digging it! Just a jaw dropping level of epic! 1980 to 1983 were the peak Roth years.

I love him but it's well past time for him to stop tarnishing his and VH's legacy. At their peak VH with Dave was flat out incredible. That time is passed. This was the peak of this band, few bands ever had energy like this and Eddie moving around and picking without a flaw just shows how happy they were and wanted to entertain. I've seen them maybe 10 times and the fair warning, women & children, diver tours were just like this. I was leaning on the stage at all of those tour, EVH gave me one on his schlitz malt liquor beers while Michael was doing his bass solo then intro to running with the devil. And later met the band at the Hyatt pool on the 3rd floor Dallas, Valerie Bertinelli was there before Eddie and her were married. Those were the days, I wish this version of the band would have continued forever. We got robbed of some incredible albums that never happened. This was the mighty fucking Van Halen.
