@@ks17 Not true. What Mr. Hughes paints himself as and what he actually does is two different things. Mr. Hughes feigns independence often depending on the audience he's in front of as he knows he will automatically be discredited under the traditional black conservative label. However, on almost every position of importance, in particular in any of the major culture wars issues, it comes down staunchly on the conservative positions. His primary mentors are preeminent black conservatives Glenn Loury and John McWhorter. Not sure if you listened to his latest hip hop album COLDXMAN, in particular his song "Blasphemy," but his lyrics are staunchly conservative. You might want to research him a bit more. Remain in Mexico which Biden rescinded. So now we have a migrant crisis breaking the social safety net in our cities and driving down wages of working class black americans. GOP is for school choice which allows high achieving minority students to escape under performing public schools. Democrats are dead set against this since they rely on teachers unions for political patronage. Economic Opportunity zones which grant tax breaks/deferments to business that invest in poor and predominantly black inner city areas. But vote for Biden or you aint black!

Immigration is another reason that black men- especially working class black men- are frustrated with the Democratic Party. Of course, they’d be voting against their own interests, but many consider the fact that they’ve struggled (historically) for resources, while immigrants can be readily supplied with resources As soon as they arrive. These are not my views- but I’ve heard men complain openly about this issue. This is particularly true with housing and food security.

How is the economy better than it has ever been? Better for whom? Everything is more expensive and incomes for employees aren’t enough to buy basic things. Inflation is eroding the little savings most people have. San Francisco, New York and Los Angeles, just to mention few cities, are out of control with homelessness and stores are leaving because of thieves taking whatever they want without being punished. Let’s not forget the price of gas and rents. Crime is higher but they are not accounted for. This country is looking more and more like a developing country in South America. Corruption, poverty and chaos everywhere.
@Adagio121212Ай бұрын
People seem to have a very short memory. There's a little thing called the pandemic that we went through that fanned the flames of the inflation. Inflation rates were considerably lower prior to the pandemic (when Trump was in office) and then started to drastically increase during the pandemic and afterwards. Biden came into office in 2021 as inflation was climbing, started peaking later and then declining. So, how can you claim that he was responsible for inflation when he inherited an inflationary situation? Another culprit in the rise of inflation is corporate price gouging. Never one to let a chaotic situation go to waste, companies increased their prices and blamed a large portion of that increase on inflation. It's supply and demand. When people couldn't get things because everything waa shut down and the supply chain was disrupted, prices went up. As we came out of the pandemic, demand increased, but supply was low. As things have somewhat stabilized, some prices went down, but not back to their pre-COVID levels, while others continued to rise. And you say that this is Biden's fault? And as far as gas prices are concerned, the president has no substantial control over gas prices. It's the oil companies that determine that. Rest assured the oil and gas companies were going to ger back well over what they lost when far fewer people were driving during the pandemic. The US now pumps at least as much oil, if not more, than Saudia Arabia. Acknowledging these things doesn't make me a Biden fan, but it makes me a realistic. Trump inherited a great economy that had been moving upwards since the Great Recession. Biden inherited an economy that had been rocked by the pandemic and was going down.

I think a big issue with black voters is that we typically don't vote. We get a turn out for president every 4 years, but we never show up to the local governments and town halls. We don't participate. It's not a value or priority. The only way to better the black community is to actually have one. Yes we can cite the reasons for all of this but the fact remains. Also yes, the politicians only show up every 4 years making promises. Promises that don't help black communities on the micro scale. In the places that matter to the average black would be voter. For instance Biden's administration has done amazing for the country which in effect helped black Americans but food is still high for our low paying jobs. What these younger black voter need to understand is why. Did Democrats try to pass bills that would help black communities? Yes. And republicans shot it down. Democrats aren't saying "You have no control" they're just acknowledging that black communities have been used and abused for all of the US's history and are trying to put resources to correcting it. If the gaps between the Black and white population were fixed 20 years America's GDP would have grown by 6 trillion dollars. Republicans ignore these facts because it' doesn't help them stay in power. That power is dependant on fear and culture wars and that power is used to keep getting paid by corporations and lobbyist who want regulations as weak as possible to continue to abuse workers and people in general without having any liability. This is all documented stuff that doesn't require a leap in logic to conclude, Another thing about these young voters is they're uniformed. Theyre ignoring history and yes their news comes from social media. It's curated to give you an reaction. Theyre not going to a trusted institute full of people dedicated to bring you news of importance. I dated this young girl once who told me I was weird for having news notifications turn on on my phone. They prefer their news to be in short scrolling format and it has to grab their attention. So yes, a lot of them are uniformed. And they seem to ignore history, recent history at that. They forget all the times the republican party has voted against the numerous measures republicans have take to undermine any opportunity to help the black community, the number of loud and proud racists who hold office or support the office. A few practiced words that make you feel like "you control your destiny" from the mouth of a politician shouldn't make you forget empirical data. At the end of the day, the level of blatant corruption, action, discrimination, and painful lack of basic emotional, social, spiritual, and academic education makes it clear that black people or any people of non-white straight Christians origins will never have a real seat at that table. The Democrats might get a little extreme and annoying with the bleeding hearts, but its the one place where actual change can be made. Damn I didn't mean to write an essay.
@DRNT9402 ай бұрын
I'm just going to address the last paragraph. It's bullshit. Everyone has opportunities in our country. Is their racism? Sure. Do we need to stamp it out? Yes. But tailoring laws based on race or gender to give someone of said race or gender a leg up is just another form of racism. The only way to make the change you want to see is to ensure a level playing field by prosecuting racism, ensuring everyone has the same level of education and participation. That last one is entirely an individual choice. Reparations won't help. Favoritism won't help. It will just foster more hate.

If you ask President Donald Trump, he isn’t racist. To the contrary, he’s repeatedly said that he’s “the least racist person that you’ve ever encountered.” Trump’s actual record, however, tells a very different story. On the campaign trail, Trump repeatedly made explicitly racist and otherwise bigoted remarks, from calling Mexican immigrants criminals and rapists, to proposing a ban on all Muslims entering the US, to suggesting a judge should recuse himself from a case solely because of the judge’s Mexican heritage. The trend has continued into his presidency. From stereotyping a Black reporter to pandering to white supremacists after they held a violent rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, to making a joke about the Trail of Tears, Trump hasn’t stopped with racist acts after his 2016 election. Most recently, Trump has called the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus the “Chinese virus” and “kung flu” - racist terms that tap into the kind of xenophobia that he latched onto during his 2016 presidential campaign; Trump’s own adviser, Kellyanne Conway, previously called “kung flu” a “highly offensive” term. And Trump insinuated that Sen. Kamala Harris, who’s Black, “doesn’t meet the requirements” to run for vice president - a repeat of the birther conspiracy theory that he perpetuated about former President Barack Obama. This is nothing new for Trump. In fact, the very first time Trump appeared in the pages of the New York Times, back in the 1970s, was when the US Department of Justice sued him for racial discrimination. Since then, he has repeatedly appeared in newspaper pages across the world as he inspired more similar controversies.

Instead, he's saying "Socioeconomic stats, like access to money, college, safety, education, etc., is the primary cause of injustice in society, so regardless of skin color, if your youth is being disadvantaged in that way, society should help, and if you're middle class or above, regardless of race, you should be expected to take care of yourself and be responsible for your own life." He's pointing out that a poor Appalachian white kid in rural West Virginia has A LOT more in common with a poor black kid from Baltimore, than either of them have in common with the wealthy, famous, connected black people on this CNN panel. Coleman Hughes and Van Jones sure as hell don't need "reparations". Coleman is saying, "Let's align social welfare with colorblind need, not race-based divisions". He couldn't be more correct.
