I live in the area of Donegal that you visited. You parked up at "Boat Bay" near Donegal airport, it's normally crammed with vans and touring caravans in summer. I'm surprised that you can pitch up there because in Scotland you would be moved on. I also know the location of your first camp spot and you mentioned that you would liked to have used your paddle board, but no swimming, fishing or boating is allowed in that stretch of water. If you had taken the road to the left you would have ended back up at Glenveagh and the St. Columba monument and the place of his birth. ☘👍

I was surprised that quite a few vans and caravans looked like they had been there for a while. I kinda feel on principle that you shouldn’t park somewhere free for more than 1-2nights. Especially if it’s popular. You sure about that first location? I’ve seen paddleboarders, kayaks and boats on it on several occasions. There’s even a bit dug out for boats. Looked like groups out with an activity centre.

It does have a slip way further along, but I'm sure it's for official use only. There is a sign stating "No fishing,swimming or boats", but like most places in Ireland nobody ever challenges you. The boat bay location gets over use in my opinion, apparently folks come from other counties and the North, leave their touring caravan there all summer and rock up by car at the weekend, then take the caravan away in Autumn.

I now wake up at 5:00 a.m. every day to go for a jog, even though I wasn't a morning person at first. I've managed to change my habits for the better. Watching your videos about Ireland has made me fall in love with its beautiful scenery and rich culture...I'm Preparing for my IELTS exam, and if I get the chance, I'll definitely make my dream of moving there.

The big dune is called Hell. We used to race up and down it all day as kids. There were 2 big dunes 'Heaven & Hell' but they had to clear one when building the airport runway. Been going to Carrickfinn for over 40yrs now. Home from home. Beautiful stretch of coastline.

Hi Stephen. Lovely weather and a beautiful place by the sea. You were actually lucky, it is usually difficult to get parked there at all. Masterchef in a van😅

Yeah I got lucky, literally the last space. Several vans coming after couldn’t get a spot. Looked like quite a few vans just pitch up for quite a few days. Figure a local landowner could make a pound or two with a simple site.

Great video and weather Stephen. If you get a cooler box, I recommend a proper refrigerated one with a compressor as they’re much more efficient and consume about half the power once down to temperature compared to the non-compressor type. I use an 18L Alpicool one with my DIY 1,400wh power station, it can run for 5 days at 2-4 degrees without any additional power top ups.

@@StephenJReid I wouldn't call it loads, its just right for 1 person for a few days to a week, you're welcome to try mine, i'll probably not be using it again until Spring

glenveagh is beutiful but it needs a reintroduction plan.. imagine the calls of the eurasion cranes,howling of the wolves... It would really be magical. We need more public platforming such as yourself to Talk about this and get the word round. Yellowstone park reintroduced plan is a perfect example of this introducing wolves vastly improves the ecosystem of a national park positively.. let's do it!!!
