LiON Mini fridge, freezer, has a battery that also functions as an external power bank so you can charge your devices whenever needed. It is quiet and efficient and I really do like this fridge- it is working great!

I have to write this.... protesting works, it gets the attention it needs, it caught mine when the truckers were protesting in Canada but I still was clueless of their value in our economy. Fast-forward to the food crisis loomimg and now I am seeing it!!! Why isn't this common knowledge? At least my dad is very friendly with everyone that he is around where ever he goes, so I know he's made up for at least myself. I have & do practice safe driving around truckers & give them their space but now I know a little bit more of that lifestyle & I value them more. I had a conversation once accidentally without knowing who he was, we were traveling as a family & my husband & I were dining next to a truck stop while the children played & am older man sat close by & we started friendly conversation, told me about his family, I told him about ours, his oldest played football, cannpt remember if he was drafted for pro or not , also told me about his wife not wanting to travel with him, preferred to be home, but I didn't realize then the challenges of being a truck driver. Very nice man. GOD BLESS truck drivers.!!!

Bob what people may not be aware of is that these portable fridges do well outside in the elements (except in bear country). Have a $200 32 quart fridge that has run nonstop off of solar for 2 years plus now. It stays outside of my vehicle and runs far less than it would if it was inside the vehicle. I do occasionally remember to throw a tarp over it during heavy rain.

Our electric/propane fridge died a couple weeks ago. 12v replacement refrigerators are extremely expensive! So we DIY our own 12V fridge out of a new residential unit, a 1kw power inverter, and a 100 cranking amp AGM moped battery. Runs beautifully even in the hottest temps. I charge the battery with the 12v that used to supply the old refrigerator's propane ignitor.

GOD BLESS truck drivers!!! My uncle owned public buses for city transportation, I was about 9 or 10 maybe, I had plenty of space to sit in the front in the co-pilot area but the bus would be packed. He'd charge the people the tariff, give them change back if necessary, so it was his way of spending time with me. Have a wonderful time with your grand-daughter, I'm 50+ years old & I'll never forget my uncle & riding in his bus.

$178 would be insurance for $178 worth of food, which I buy every month. Also, I like the idea of a small battery inside the fridge as a back up just in case I don't have enough solar or other battery power. Personally I'd get both, I mean, use both. I like redundancy for important stuff.

newton's law of thermodynamics: The rate of heat transfer between two objects is directly proportional to the difference in temps between the objects. So yes, adding insulation around a freezer is more important than adding insulation around a fridge because the difference in temps is much greater between freezer and your van versus between fridge and the van. Example: van is 70 F, fridge is 40. That's a 30 degree diff. If freezer is 10, that's a 60 degree diff between van and freezer. So according to Newton's law, heat transfer between freezer and van happens twice as fast as between fridge and van (because 60 degrees is twice as much as 30 degrees) assuming you have the same amount of insulation around both. This is the reason I set my thermostat in my house to 79 or 80 during the summer when AC is running and 65 degrees in winter when furnace is running. Well, actually the reason is because I'm cheap and like saving money ;-)

Great review Bob. I'm a firm believer in having a backup plan. If one can afford it buy the internal battery AND have a power station. If you are moving around frequently that would allow you to keep both charged up using the vehicles 12v source. May get you through bad solar conditions and/or extend a stay at a spot you really like.

I bought that 28L fridge off the indigogo campaign. And less then a year before that I bought their 60L fridge. I’m using one as fridge and one as freezer. The AcoPower battery is only 193 watt, so it’s smaller then the Bluetti. The real advantage is that the AcoPower battery fits in your backpack and can charge all your devices on a hiking trip.

Well I just ordered an 18L fridge with the battery, thanks to the information in this video! It's pricey but I think it fits my use case well - I want a fridge for my Subaru, where space and weight are at a premium, and this fridge should mean I don't need an auxiliary battery installed in the car. I guess we'll see how it goes!

I got the battery with mine and it works great. Nice thing is I can hook up one of my portable solar panels to the fridge and it keeps the battery charged up and it runs all night on the battery. I do have a few portable power stations to use also and those charge from the solar panels on the roof. I have not plugged my fridge to electrical outlet ever. It has run on battery power since i got it. Either with the internal removable battery or a power station. Also the battery can be removed and charged from solar when not in the fridge and can be used as a small portable charger to charge phones, tablets and laptops from the battery. It has been more of convenience than a drain on the pocket book. So if you can afford it get it.

Iceco also put one out recently. Jasonoid put out a video of one of the batteries on the alpicool fridge he had catch on fire in the back of his family members trucks after it was charged by solar and plugged in to the fridge.

100% agree the Bluetti EP3a is by FAR the preferable battery power and back-up power source. (for almost same cost.) Not only because it is more powerful, versatile (able to run other things simultaneously) and has UPS function, but for the #1 reason, the battery chemistry is likely the far safer kind. All should please do their own due diligence to confirm exactly what the fridge battery chemistry is. Another KZfaqr very recently aired video of his differently branded (!) internal battery fridge going up in flames, barely gotten out of the vehicle in time. Not necessarily same chemistry as this.... So again, recommend please check competing battery chemistries as part of the decision making process. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Z9d_gJiazZateJs.html

I would like to know why more people don’t use college type dorm fridges. They seem to have a lot of room and you don’t have to take everything out to get what you want. Is it the amount of power it uses? Also when I get my van- which will be someday I’m determined-I will need to have my refrigerator raised from the floor to at least be at shoulder level at the top. I’ve only seen a few campers do this. Any tips on that?

Hello from Paul and Denise in the UK. We are hoping to be living in a van full time in the near future. I've been watching alot of vlogs on batteries and electrical equipment and builds on a van. One of the vlogs I watched recently suggested that the price of materials and time spent on building a van from scratch regarding the electrics / solar panels and all parts of that wasn't much different to someone buying a van and installing a few batteries? Please can you do a vlog regarding this issue and would this be an easier/ cheaper option for someone who isn't an electrician.. This product on Ebay could possibly be cheaper and quicker suggested by them. Please share your thoughts on this. Love from Paul and Denise in the UK. @VonBluesman
@VonBluesman 2 жыл бұрын
Is there any solar powered supply like Bluetti that can run a small home 110 volt window unit air conditioner ? I have a gas powered generator Honda 2000 that can run it. I live where hurricanes hit and knock out power every year or two. The Honda runs a home refrigerator and a fan, I have to unplug those to run a 700 watt microwave. Any recommendations besides moving and not having to buy a $3500 to $5000 generator ? Usually when the hurricanes hit it seems like they have a extreme heat temperature warnings for several days following and it always takes up to 2 1/2 hours minimum waiting in gas lines if you don’t fill gas cans while the storm is still in the Gulf Of Mexico. Thanks.

@jw3843 2 жыл бұрын
Well, as far as battery power stations that can charge off solar or ac power, there are a lot out there that will run a window unit. The question is how long they will run it for. If you get a 2000 wh (watt hour) power station and your window unit pulls 500 watts, it will run for about 3.5 hours, due to power losses of running the ac inverter. The easy way to figure out how much watts your window unit pulls, but not very accurately, would be to look at the manufacturers label and find the voltage and amps it says is max, and multiply them together and that is the highest wattage it should take to run it. Then if you take that number and divide that into the Watt hours a power station has, that will tell you about how long it will run for if you have nothing charging the power station. More accurate way would be to buy a KW (kilowatt) meter or wattmeter from a hardware store or online like on amazon, plug it into the wall and plug your window unit into the KW meter and see how much watts it takes to run it on high speed. If it runs a full hour that is Watt hours. most small window units take around 500 to 800 watts to run. Then the inverter on the power station will also need to be at least a 1000-watt inverter with a surge of 1500 watts to power the window unit. The biggest battery power stations tend to be around 3000 watthours so you could get up to 6 hours of run time for the window unit with one of them. Bluetti has the AC300, ac200max and a bigger one called Ep500 ir Ep500pro. Ecoflow has the ecoflow dalta max, and ecoflow pro and a lot of other smaller brand name ones are out there.

@@jw3843 Thank you very much for taking time to reply with such a detailed answer. I used to be a master carpenter building custom homes and we always subbed out our electrical work to two companies only. I hate messing with electrical but I need to take the time and learn it thoroughly. I have run a lot of wire but always have the electrical contractor install the breakers, wire the outlets and light switches due to state inspection requirements and liability issues. It’s easier to just gas up the Honda generator but you got to hassle with gasoline and stay cautious about carbon monoxide poisoning. Thanks.

@@VonBluesman You are welcome. I was a HVAC tech so i am comfortable with working with electricity. I put my own solar system together and that helped me learn a lot as i went. If you are planning on doing solar then you really want about double the wattage in solar panels as you think you need that way it keeps the battery charged. Of course in a hurricane they will not produce much power. If you want to be on the safe side, you might want to look into a generator that runs on propane, but that has its own risks to. but keeps you from having to go to the gas station. you just have to make sure the tank is full well before the storm to be prepared.
@jw3843
@jw3843 2 жыл бұрын
@@VonBluesman Also, if you are comfortable wiring low voltage, to make a cheaper and easier way to power it, you could buy a battery and an inverter and a charger for the battery, depending how you are going to charge the batteries. You will need the inverter to be made for whatever the voltage of the battery is, 12 volt, 24 volts, etc in put voltage to 120 volts or whatever the window unit takes to run, at least 1000 watt and surge of 1500 watts, Pure sine wave would be best, and just connect the inverter to the battery and run it that way. you can get a bigger battery for less money than the power stations but not as convenient as plug and play power stations. every 100-amp hour (AH) equals 1200-watt hours. So, if you want to run a window unit all day you would need at least 12-100ah batteries or the equivalent.

Why if this is such a good car refrigerator you don't list it among your recommended units (or at least I can't find a link)?
