So thankful I watched this video. I was floored when you mentioned Beall Woods. I had to replay. This is just outside Mt. Carmel which is my hometown! I used to ride my bicycle with my friends to Beall Woods throughout my childhood. I have been active dity Air Force for 20 yrs, 15 of those i have been overseas. This particularly touched me because the last time I was home was Oct 2020 when my mother passed away. My house was a little over 2 miles from that park. Thank you so much for that little piece home.🏡 -Cody

We went on sunday drives after mass almost every week long drives all 7 of us kids with our parents my dad took us places like rock valley, salt lakes just lo g drives. My memories with my parents were the most became to us as people who loved loved eachother. I never have seen it ever with other couples. My dad was in love with my mother till the end. I was lucky. You to trust eachother have great love, it just makes me in this video feel extremely safe. Had such a wonderful time with you guys. How lucky you both are. I loves your video I've never been anywhere out side of Los Angeles county till I moved to Reno NV. But besides those 2 areas no further so I loved seeing and experiencing your trip through our country. Thank you thank you

Omg! I started crying on this. Lost Creek Wilderness. My dad has taken us kids there back in the 80s and I could not remember the name but I knew it was close to Bailey. My dad died before I could ask him. Thank you for this. You seriously don't know what this means to me. I truly miss both my parents. Rest in Peace Bill and Sue ... I love you Thank you!!!

Susie and Luke, my favorite campers: The bird you described is a Stellar’s Jay. It is a beautiful, slightly iridescent teal blue or lapis and black bird with a distinctive black tuft on top of its head. It is fairly common throughout the Western states. As you heard, they make themselves known! They have a variety of interesting calls and are fun to identify by them. Up here in Oregon and Washington we don’t have the classic attractive Blue Jay, but the Stellers are pretty nice. Thanks for sharing your adventure! - Cathleen in Oregon

Traveling in a van is so much fun just for the convenience alone...being able to stop rest or sleep, for safety reasons, being able to easily prepare food and drinks (hot or cold) and to be able to have a clean potty facility to use. We all know what some public facilities often look and smell like. It doesn't require a fortune to prepare your van for comfort and convenience. I have traveled and lived in my 2019 GMC Savana 2500 cargo van equipped with just my backpacking gear, a cot for a bed, a simple stove like Luke and Susie's, a cooler or an inexpensive portable fridge like my Alpicool 20 liter one. Gas can run high but use references from the internet or communication with other travelers, especially truckers at rest areas. You will find yourself making new friends, possibly a network of fellow travelers. Luke and Susie are doing it right and offer great advice.

You were shocked that gas in Colorado was $4.00 a gallon. I paid £1.84 a LITRE on a road trip to the North of England a few weeks ago, that is around $10.90 a gallon! I thoroughly enjoyed your video, thank you for sharing your adventures with us.

These folks seem like a pretty based couple and I've enjoyed watching some of their road trips. My wife and I are at that "empty nest" point with our youngest graduating from HS this year. We took an adventure in the Ouachita Mtns in OK two weeks ago (we're in TX) and it was incredible. It was basically a scouting trip for hiking and camping. Broken Bow Lake in OK is a hidden gem. But.... Colorado. That's next level. My nephew just built a home in the Rockies and we can't wait to check it out.

Hi Luke and Susie, I had an awesome time going to these really nice places. The rock formations wee out of this world. I really enjoyed going along. I give you two credit for the hard work you do. I’m really glad you did this. I needed to get away from my thoughts for a day or two. My health hasn’t been the greatest for sometime…. But this to shall pass. I really enjoyed going with the both of you. God Bless you both and your family. 🌸🙋🏻‍♀️🌸❤️ I loved it all. Thanks.

This is very valuable for those planning to van any distances. It reminds me of traveling in with my parents in their van. I would pitch a little tent. Only when the lightning was striking close by would I sleep in the front seat. Great memories. The planning for these trips was my mom's forte. Every meal was planned, packed for, but again if they were too tired they would wing it. Great music as always. Thanks for your adventure sharing!

Very nice video. Thank you for your personal reflections and your descriptions regarding the trip. I have backpacked in the Pacific Northwest and in the Eastern, primarily New England. I found your insight regarding the temperament of backpackers in the southern US, versus backpackers in Colorado to be interesting. I don’t think that I ever considered, or remember noticing how much my fellow travelers stopped to converse; or not. Something to consider… Truly appreciated this video. Thank you.

Tennessee isn’t that bad. I mean, yeah, there are some big cities to drive through, buts it’s all about timing. 5 trips out West were through Tennessee and 4 North West, through Kentucky. We didn’t really see that much difference in traffic. I almost ALWAYS get stuck in a jam on 75 in Kentucky. It’s nice to mix it up, though. Anyway, enjoyed then movie, again. I’ve watched it twice now lol PS Luke looks a lot like my Uncle Roger!

Again, you put out an awesome video! The first bird that you saw is a Northern Harrier. Unlike most hawks, they use their sense of hearing to help locate prey. They have an owl-like facial disk to help with directional hearing and soft feathers for a quieter flight. The second one sounds like a Steller's Jay, which is a western relative of the Blue Jay. Keep up the great work!

I lived in that area for a number of years. We had some hikers who drove in 3 cars and we had one of those early snowfalls while they were there. They were finally rescued by helicopter with accompanying news media coverage. As they were boarding the copter, one of them asked about when their cars would be towed out....the sheriff told them right on camera that they didn't understand. He told them their cars would be covered with snow until spring. Every few years we'd get an early snow in September (we had snow in this area every month of the year). If we had a really snowy winter, we'd be white all winter. Most who haven't lived at this elevation don't realize how wild the weather can be.

The ultimate trip loved every moment. Colorado is beautiful but those horrible windmills are ugly, thanks for doing this and posting!!

Wow. This one was epic for me. I did the Lost Creek Wilderness three years ago. I came in from Ute Creek and did the clockwise method. Bad mistake. That was a tough trip. Also, I have spent many a night “camping” inside the fence of those missile sites. Back in the early 90s I was a security specialist at FE warren AFB. Camper support. Which means every time the alarm systems went down I was babysitting until they could fix it. We had truck campers that became our home until the AF Maintenance could get the systems back up. Talking about boredom. But I did enjoy living in Wyoming for 4 years. I got a lot of Rocky Mountain adventures done before I returned to Virginia.

Amazing trip, loved every minute of the film, don’t think I’ll be able to follow in your footsteps, but I can always revisit the amazing views because of this amazing film. I would really value info on the walking boots that Susie has been using as the must have been comfortable. Keep up the amazing videos.

Loved the video, great job! If you’re up for ideas on more adventures I’d recommend the Bob Marshall Wilderness in Montana. Hike there in early to mid June or in September.
