Who are Kara and Nate?!
Watch our documentary here: • 100th COUNTRY DOCUMENTARY
Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married 2013 and were super “normal.” I was a teacher and Nate started a small printing business from the spare bedroom of our apartment.
We discovered the world of “travel hacking” while planning our honeymoon & became addicted ;)
So after 2 years of obsessively saving $35k and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016 for a “one year” trip around the world.
Our goal was to see as many places as possible before we ran out of money and went back home to “normal life.” We started this channel to share our experiences with friends and family, but quickly fell in love with living on the road and found a new passion for capturing our travels through video. So we did everything we could to keep going.
4 years later, we achieved our new goal of visiting 100 countries and all 7 continents. We had no plans to slow down, until 2020 forced us to ;) Which is when we bought a converted van to start exploring our own country for the first time!
After ~2 years of van life, we are back to full time international traveling! And now we are finding the best adventures the world has to offer :)
We are incredibly grateful to be able to continue doing something we love every day. 😊🎥🌎 Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our journey!

As a direct result of seeing this video, I called my 76-year-old mother and we are, right now, having an impromptu slumber party…on my 26-year-old daughter’s couch! 😊 Thank you so much Kara and Nate for reminding us all that it is not about how far we travel, where we stay or the mode of transportation we took to get there, what matters the most is the people, and the memories we make with those people along the journey!!!

As a teacher I am always looking for ways to show short videos to 'entertain" the kids. This last week we had a half day meaning I only saw each group for 23 minutes. So I showed this video to my kids, and many of them thought it was amazing that your 88 pops would go camping with you. They also loved the van. Thank you for providing kids a demonstration of normal families live without electronics

My Grandma is going to turn 91 in a few days. She is still working on her beautiful yard. I was very lucky to see it so beautiful with flowers, and veggies. My most favorite from her veggies is the lemon cucumber! Second is the speet peas, third would have to be the awesome assortment of tiny tomatoes.. yummy! This was the best video I have seen in a long while. Pop, you are a true gem. Nate, cherish that time with him. Kara, you too. My grandparents, grandpa just turned 94 and my Grammy turned 88 in February. Grammy just recently was diagnosed with alzheimer's and dementia. It's been hard on us, especially since my mom, their daughter passed away a year ago in October. I don't take a minute for granted with either of them. My Grammy may not always recognize me now, but she has filled my heart and childhood with wonderful memories. Just like you will have with Pop. Sorry for the ramble. This one hit me hard in the feels. Much love, Elisabeth

This truly hit me how much i miss her. How much i wish i had her in my life still. Her sister my great aunt is 90 and still with us so i think ill give her a call and plan a visit.

Nate, your end of year video brought me here. Both of my grandfathers had passed on long before I was born, so I was never blessed with an opportunity like this. My father passed on when I was 19. We were very close, but not as much those last couple of years. My father-in-law passed on when our first child was only 3, long before our second child, so they really have not had their grandfathers. This is a video you should be very proud of. While thinking how much I wished I had that opportunity, or that my dad was still alive for a similar opportunity, I found myself smiling the whole time. Cherish that time. Pop is a good guy. Fantastic video.

We definitely need a Kara, Nate, Mamaw and Pop camping video now! I can see where you (Nate) got a lot of your personality. You're both very determined, go-getter type attitude. I really wished after watching this that my grandma was still around, because you two together reminded me of us hanging out together. Sadly, she passed in 2010, and I think about her pretty much everyday. You need to do more of these while you still can!

I came back to this after reviewing the 2024 calendar video. I cried so much. Not because it's a sad video but because POPS reminds me so much of my dad. I lost my dad 6 yrs ago to Pulmonary Fibrosis, a disease brought on by his exposure to asbestos on the ships he served on. Not a pleasant disease. After serving 25 yrs in the Cdn Navy my dad retired to civilian life. He was an encyclopedia of knowledge and like pops was a child of the depression era. He lost uncles in WWll and he joined the forces as a young man. I miss him everyday. As do his grandkids. He was a very good grandpa. I hope you are able to have more years with your pops, to make more memories. He's a gem.

We're officially all adopted grandchildren now right? Thanks for sharing Pops with us! He's a great reminder of how special grandparents are. I'm not able to get advice from my own any more, so hearing your conversation made my day!!

Nate, as a soon-to-be, 85-year-old grandfather, who absolutely loves you and Kara, I must confess that this video brought tears to my eyes on several occasions. Thank you so much for this beautiful tribute to your wonderful Grandfather and Ruby!

Nate, cherish all of these memories you can make with Pop. My Dad's dad passed before I was born and my mom's when I was 5. I would give the world to be able to spend time with them and learn about who they were.

My goodness, I am glad I'm not the only one moved to tears while watching this video. To see such a humble and wise gentleman is so special in today's world. I know there are so many out in the world, but I don't get to see many ... so this was a wonderful video. Also, I think the opportunity to spend time with one's grandpa ... kind of special for those of us who have lost our parents and grandparents. I have a "Cool stuff" folder on my youtube acct. - this video has been saved there, because I'm going to watch it again. Such a special man. Also, I heard him say "seminary professor", is your grandpa a Pastor? He certainly has the demeanor, compassion, understanding and wisdom of one. ❤❤ Nate, thank you for sharing your grandpa with us.

This video has to be included in your best Top 3 videos of all time, at least. Your Pop is such a sweetheart. Full of wisdom and humor. His Kara imitation is so hilarious. I like how he still calls the fridge "ice box". My uncle who was born in 1923 used to call the fridge that way till the day he passed. They're from the same generation :) Also, the editing of this video is excellent. Great job!

This just might be one of my favorite Kara & Nate videos. I wrote down so many of Pops quotes in my notebook. This could be an ongoing series that you do; “Conversations with Pop”. You both have such a responsibility with your followers to deliver a quality message. In a time where the younger generations are dismissing the wisdom and experiences of the older ones, these messages can make a truly thought provoking impact. ❤

In my humble opinion, just about the best, most important video you’ve ever made, it is one of my deep regrets that I wasn’t able to sit down with my dad and get him to tell his story on camera, but you’ve managed to do that with your grandad, well done, that is something that will remain a family treasure for generations to come

Oh crap. I wasn't expecting to start crying at the "there's always something different about something your grandma makes". My grandma passed Feb 2021 and I miss her so much. I'm currently pregnant with a little girl and her middle name is going to be her great grandma's name.

Okay I finished the episode and I can now say without a doubt this has to be a series. I don't want to beg but I will. I wish I had Pa's advice when I was younger. Also, not that it's any of my business. BECAUSE IT"S NO ONES BUSINESS. but y'all have plenty of time to have children if that's what you want to do. No need to rush. As a mother of two young adults I can say it was the hardest thing I have ever done. It's also the best thing I have ever done. It takes sacrifice, patients, compromise, compassion, money, and a lot of time outs. I use to tell my children, "Mom needs a time out" OH and you also have to learn to be wrong. That was hard. As a 21 year old mother I grew up with my children and it was a challenge. I think being an older parent has it's blessings. More money, more life experience, more resources, ext. The bottom line is I have noticed this coming up more than once in your videos and I just wanted to send some love your way. This decision is between you both and God. There is not a wrong or right answer and either way you're both going to be okay. Much love from one of your biggest fans.

I put this video in my watch later and kept skipping past it because I didn’t think I could handle my jealous of Nate getting these moments with his pops. My papaw passed in 2020. He worked until the moment he left this world and I hate I never got time with him to just relax. I’m happy to say this video may have made me miss him, but made me so thankful for the time I had.

Not even a minute in and already crying!!!!! This is so special! It reminds me of my grandpa, who was my best friend and favorite person in the world. I think I got my sense of adventure from him, as well. We had him for 92 years, but it’s never enough time. I’m glad you took the time to take (and document) him on this trip because you’ll remember it forever. I hope that you guys make this a regular thing over the next few years while he’s still up to it. He is clearly such a special guy and so wise. Makes me want to give him the biggest hug! You are so lucky to have him as you Pop and thanks for sharing with the world ❤❤❤❤❤

Well, the video was blurry because I teared up the entire time. So many people rush through life and don't take the time to spend quality moments with their people. In many cases, people neglect their grandparents, or see visiting them as a chore. It was so incredibly special to watch you spend time with your grandfather and have an experience filled with pure joy, and one heck of a lot of wisdom. I want to strive to continue making amazing memories with my grandparents as special as the ones you have shown here today.
