my grandpa used to sing this to me along with my girl; he passed away in 2017 when I was a sophomore in high school. He was the only male figure in my life besides my older brothers. I was going through addiction when he died and didn't get to spend as much time with him as I should have. I was the classic stereotype of choosing getting high/drunk and hanging with "friends" over spending time with people I love the most. Being clean is so amazing and beautiful until you have to face those emotions that you put off because of drug use. I miss him every day and feel so much guilt, but the second I hear these two songs, all my worries and guilt disappear. It's as if he was there just reminding me that it's okay.
