*We recently took this tent camping and it poured rain over night. The other two families both got drenched in their tents, but we stayed bone dry, even with the door vents open. I would highly recommend!*

Cheers for that!Now that’s a good test of a shelter. I made the mistake of getting a two man one, talk about bloody cosy with Marley in it with us! I heard about that coach, must’ve been a bit hairy for the passengers.we got quite a bit down this way and as usual it ground us to a halt.off to Wales today for a couple of nights so we’ll see how it goes. Cheers . Austin.

I had a rivals version of this (2man, well one man and a dog), after a short time it got a lot of condensation and I got cold and damp. Then I got rid. I was just glad I had a tent to go back to. It just goes to teach you to test equipment before you need it. 👍

What about a lightweight set of aluminum, a frame of some sort that you could carry in your pack with the cover? So you didn't have to hold it off your body with your arms. Would that hold up to the winds?
@MrDazP1adv3ntures
@MrDazP1adv3ntures 4 жыл бұрын
Hello JD, I know what you mean and guess that you could rig something up with walking poles maybe , a bit like a teepee but the idea with this is to get shelter quickly and if there were up to 4 of you , your bodies would create the wall of the frame so to speak. The thing with poles or lightweight frames in sudden weather events is the risk of tearing the fabric. Thanks though for the comments.

The circular hole, I assume is ventilation, but does it not sinch down?
@MrDazP1adv3ntures
@MrDazP1adv3ntures 4 жыл бұрын
Yes it helps to ventilate , there are 2 of them. They just push out and act like a fabric vent.
@justvin7214
@justvin7214 4 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure but when you mention the circular hole I think you could be meaning the window which is clear plastic. The vents are small tubes that can be cinched with cord but I've never needed to with my version.

Nice review. I'm a little confused from the vid whether the bag is just open to the snow on the base? Wouldn't it be better to have a full enclosure you entirely zip yourself into (apart from air vents) so that you don't have snow on the ground to deal with? Or am I misunderstanding?
@MrDazP1adv3ntures
@MrDazP1adv3ntures 5 жыл бұрын
Good point but the idea is that you enclose the shelter around you and normally in my rucksack I have an insulated mat to sit on anyway. They are designed to keep the cold air off your body in tough conditions.
@wildgeeseod67
@wildgeeseod67 9 ай бұрын
I think they have a ledge you sit on and drawstring to close it right up on the underside.

If you break your ankle in a blizzard do you really want to be setting poles up? It is an emergency survival bag designed for extremely fast deploy and to keep the elements off you for a short period of time till either rescued or can continue journey. It is not a tent. It is a life saver in emergency situations.
@denisberger9657
@denisberger9657 4 жыл бұрын
If somebody is going to go out into weather like that you better be packing a Hilleberg tent. Yes they are expensive but you get what you pay for and survival of the elements is imperative to ones health and their lives. As far as the whatever model of Vango tent that you are in I would call the tent a fail, just my opinion of course.
