My mother got to meet Vanilla Ice lol, at the point she did, it was when he really wanted to avoid public eye and was kinda regretting his career 🤣 he was eating in a little pizza chain in my town, Pizza Delight. Gander NL, Canada. The town that helped during 9/11. I’m fortunate enough to still love here, born and raised, one of the safest places in the world. He was in here some time in oct 2001. My mom sees this guy across from her and she goes up and says “I know you get this a lot but you REALLY look like Vanilla Ice.” He goes “Baby, that’s cause I am” and she’s then freaking out because she was one of the people that actually took his music seriously lol, so she got his autograph, and we still have it lol. The airport here is the famous “Crossroads of The World” so this is pretty much where everyone stops off to go to places all across the world. Due to that, and my entire mother’s side of the family working in the airport industry, my mother, uncle, grandfather and grandmother, they met so many famous people, my grandfather even becoming really really good friends with Laura from Little House on the Prairie. This town gets a LOT of famous people, Vanillie included, and it’s all because of this airport.

The one good that came out of the whole Vanilla Ice phenomena is that he was so quintessentially 90s that every time I look at him a wave of 90s nostalgia washes over me. Thank you Vanilla Ice for being the perfect irrelevant 90s time capsule I never knew I needed. (because I lost the one I made in kindergarten, smh)
