This was the first Hip Hop song to land on top of the Billboard charts, making Ice the first hip hop artist to land at number 1. Whether people agree or disagree, Vanilla Ice played a big role in Hip Hop culture. And a lot of the black hip hop legends treated him with great respect. A new subscriber here. Awesome reaction. This song of Vanilla Ice was the bomb back in the day! The hook, the 'dum-dum-dum-de-dum-dum', was sampled from a Queen song, 'Another One Bites The Dust'. The hook was written by the bass player, John Deacon. If you have not checked out Queen, do yourself (and us!) a favor and do. Their most iconic song, which has been sampled many times, is Bohemian Rhapsody. They are also the original artists for songs like 'We Will Rock You' (We will, we will rock you) and 'We Are The Champions'. And these are just a few songs in their awesome catalogue of great songs. And don't forget their absolutely stupendous live performance at the Live Aid concert. It would be awesome if you could check out some of these.

See back then there were "Record Producers"... huge compames like EMI and Paramount. They set the market of new music because they would produce it or not. As an up-and-coming band who struggled so hard and did shows and barely made it, they knew all of that and made you an offer based on all of that. The offer was big for you but not standardized across the bar. This dude was threatening established black artists whom they had the right to so they got scared. They ruined him. His licks are there and he has a show on HGTV doing house renows so he DIDNT QUIT. Yall black culture now has realized Eminem is the GOAT. Kinda glad it worked out this way because I honestly dont think Van Winkle could spit bars about his life and everything around him like Em did. I respect both men who put themselves out there.
