I have been playing Vanilla Plus for about two weeks and it is absolutely phenomenal. It is mind blowing what they have done to preserve the feeling of classic while fixing almost everything single class spec, and STILL balancing things to an unbelievable degree. You NEED to roll with us on this realm. Guilds are friendly, everyone is so helpful, and you are constantly seeking out groups which gives you a VERY multiplayer experience. You have to try it. Their launcher made the install sooo easy.

Hey mate, thank you for this really lovely and entertaining video on this awesome class. My main char on V+ is a hunter, as a hunter I've done a lot of both solo and raiding including full V+ MC (which is a hell challenge compared to the classic one or SoM) and I can say that you're not the only hunter who lost his Ironman Buff at low level. Honestly, so far I've seen a very few lvl15+ hunters in the game world with this buff just because most hunters lose their Ironman when doing the taming quest. :)

Vanilla+ is an amazing Server, everybody should give it a try, basically all Dungeons got adjusted to the higher player power and therefore it will be much more challenging, the revamped Skill Trees and ways to play your favorite classes are extremely fun.

I enjoyed this, I like that you decided to come back and give V+ an honest try again and I would love to see more vids from you on this place again in future. Would also like to see more Turtle WoW vids, too, they've been churning out some cool shit last year.

I've made it to the end of the video and I wanted to drop some info that may help with understanding why things are the way they are on this server. Liking the changes is up to the individual player, but you win some, you lose some. I'll try to keep this organized and/or in chronological order as you hit on them in the video. I'll preface with my hunter is BM and I'm in the thirties. I can't speak much to survival but I did get the chance to talk with one of the 60 surv hunters on the server. For pets, the devs intentionally made it harder. They want the RP of it to be difficult of you obtaining and holding onto the pet. You're not ever intended to tame a pet of equal level. They changed them so if you start taming they do more damage, they apply a debuff that prevents 100% of healing, the pet's cannot be CC'd at all, and if anyone rips aggro off of you, the tame is over. There is no frost trap or concussive shot cheese. The only real cheese is maybe a power word shield PRIOR to starting the tame, or a pally bubble since it generates no aggro. Either way, its much easier if you do it the "intended" way by choosing something 3-5 levels lower and just raising them up. Next bit about pets: This advice doesn't apply as much to you since you're in your 40's now, but they did change the values on hunger and how it ties to loyalty. Getting the pet to hang out right when you get it can be a pain. Again this was an RP choice. The easiest strat for the baby hunters reading this is grab yourself a kitty or a boar when you get to 10, grab fishing, and carve out the next 30-45 minutes at a lake or in Ratchett. It is not the most engaging gameplay, but you'll literally just want to throw fish at your pet as you catch them. At loyalty 1, they need food about every mob pull or every 1-2 minutes. Having them out and next to you for a period of time will get them loyalty, especially when you keep their hunger in the green. I think it took me about 35 minutes of fishing when my guy hit loyalty 2 (not hard watching some McDubbs on the other monitory). At that point its like your normal vanilla pet. One scrap of food every 3-5 minutes or so will keep him happy, and once you hit loyalty 3 you're pretty much gold. Again, kinda meh advice for you since you're so high, but that was kinda how the devs wanted it. Actually EARN the pet by almost dying and follow up with some good bonding time = Best Friends for Life Note for plainsrunning: Yeah it seems OP, but it seems OP cuz you're melee. They're one moonfire or corruption tick from going back down to no speed. Not much you can do about it since you didn't pick up ranged abilities, but its only as OP as your team lets it. For dungeons: They intentionally buffed the difficulty of the dungeons. Them tweaking all of the classes makes pretty much every class regardless of spec stronger than their vanilla equivalent. The devs then compensated by making the dungeons harder, but also dropping the loot that has been tinkered to be better, and give oodles of quest xp. They want you to do dungeons, but you don't get to plow them over. This also goes to your comment about BRD needing discord. Would a rando group without voice be successful? Probably eventually, but since dungeons get drastically harder as you go up, voice is very much appreciated. For example I did an RFD run with a level 52 priest and a 50 warr tank. We still full wiped a solid 4 times up to the final boss, and he still took one of us with him on the pull we killed him. In my opinion, it makes the experience that much more fun since it is much more of a challenge compared to Ascension. However it is up to each player, some people hate it and avoid dungeons. It is what it is For the resolution, the V+ discord actually has instructions on how to set your windowed mode. Takes like 1 minute to do after you read the instructions. I haven't had to mess with it since. TL;DR: V+ devs have intentionally made a lot of changes to make the game "harder" in a sense, but also better for playability. If something you're engaging with doesn't operate the way it does on other classic servers on on retail-classic like you're used to, it was probably intentional. A LOT of these changes are on their discord, and they have it broken up by class. They have also chosen to simply not post every change so that you discover things while you level. You will not find anything special on their site that tells you a Destro locks Searing Pain spell can be cast while moving. You don't need to talent it, it just works that way. I figured it out trying to stop my cast with a side step to learn that I can now just kite m'fers like I'm a fire mage. If you want to give the server a shot, I would implore you to play around with the talent calculator on their site to see what kind of changes they made, and maybe look in your class discord and/or the FAQ spots. Then just give it a shot, go play whatever you want. Want to Enh Shaman tank? go for it. Shadow priest? For sure, they've tweaked it to make it a lot better play wise. There will always be classes that pump out more damage, but try not to forget the point is to have fun. From what I've seen the community is very helpful when you have questions and despite not playing the server in a few weeks due to real life obligations, I can say I've had a blast for the 60 or so hours I've put in across a few toons.

Glad you mentioned about the pet problems. I too found that frustrating when I gave the server a go last night. It was hard to keep it's happiness green for long and taming stuff was really scary as like you it would almost kill me everytime.

5 points for 5% crit personally would not be amazing but it looks like it applys it to the mob, so its 5 talent points for 5% crit to the whole 40 man raid.. that is disgustingly powerful as a raid buff

Having tons of fun on the server playing a survival hunter. I asked a level 41 priest to bubble me while I tamed Echeyakee. I am now level 5 loyalty (faithful) happiness and feeding is much more bearable now. :)

The resolution resetting problem has a fix. It means your wow folder is set to "read only". Took me ages to figure that one out, and windows bugged out on me when I tried to take it off read only. It didn't go away until I moved it into my Program Files (x86) folder, then it let me switch off the read only setting.

Server pop is better than ever lately, hopefully this vid convinces even more people to check out Vanilla Plus

Cats are huge wolves are pretty good too they just didn’t get increased melee speed. There is a rare spider wolf I just can’t remember where it is from Goldshire I believe it’s south and it actually does shadow damage unless they hot fixed it so it doesn’t do that damage anymore

Just for the sake of recency, I gotta use this video, but it pertains to CoA. The one thing i've noticed about CoA that seems to be a truly great thing is they're blurring the lines between all the classes and specs. For example, it seems like most classes contain multiple tank spells/abilities as well as healing spells/abilities. With obviously every one of them containing viable damage to pair or run along side. And because of this blurring of lines I think a dope side effect is that itll be easier to find plyers in need for certain roles within a dungeon. And were not hamstringing ouselves without a certain spec or build. Thus, hopefully ofering a very fluid transition between all the roles and ultimately, a higher % of all the roles in the game just because of the fact that there's that parity within the system itsself. But it's not a flat out homogeniziing effect so there is still a level of class fantasy and uniquness that keeps things fresh and interesting. That line cannot forgotten. Uniqueness is absolutely vital.

Been on this server for a month now.. love it. I actually enjoy slower leveling so 2x experience and that massive dungeon quest exp feels just right. And they fixed sooo much of what sucks in WoW vanilla era. Especially the ridiculous Racial abilities and hybrid class mediocrity. very happy here. found a nice guild and enjoying Warcraft again.

There's no Scarlett monastery in the game yet. It's alleged to be coming out as level 60 content at some point.

Tried playing on Vanillaplus but every 15 minutes, the game crashes to desktop. Never had no problems like that with turtle wow or any other p server. Anyone else have this? or know a fix?

In classic if you keep your pet well fed it will build Loyality towards you and become hungry slower. There are 5 levels of loyality and you start at the bottom

Hey Mcdoubles I think the bear is best option for hunters considering he eats alot of food he eats fruits, meats, cheese which is a good thing If they implement it properly. But yeah in Vanilla it was annoying even in classic wow pet is always depressed but they did go overboard by the looks of it. Also I think horde imo has better dungeon curve overall (13-18 Ogrimmar dung, 18-23 Wailing Caverns (ton of quests especially there is a hidden passage if you climb a hill and then jump into part above the dungeon entrance+ quests from ratchet) 20-25 (Shadowfang Keep) even BFD then Scarlet Monastery which drops the best things for pally/warrior Scarlet Leggings, Herods Helm, Whirlwind Axe, Herods Shoulderpads and Razorfen Kraul then RFD Zul Farak,

think your problem with pets is your using xpearl and I did not see a hunger indicator. As a hunter with pet ya may want to just use default ui, so you can keep track of pet hunger.

as a hunter place trap and start to tame. don't shot it or start attacking as your likely going to auto attack to break freeze.
